The World's first independent OCR Championship will require participants to comply with WADA standards by mandating that all participants are subject to testing for performance enhancing drugs and prohibited substances.

The Obstacle Course Racing World Championships (OCRWC), the world’s first independent OCR championship, announced today that participants in its inaugural competition will be required to comply with 2014 World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) standards with all competitors in their inaugural event being subject to testing for performance enhancing drugs and prohibited substances.

“We believe this is an important step in bringing OCR to the forefront of the sporting world and will help add legitimacy to our sport's champions and competitions,” said OCRWC President Adrian Bijanada.

On-site sample collection will be conducted by the National Center for Drug Free Sport, Inc. (Drug Free SportTM), a premier provider of drug testing services who provides testing for organizations such as the USA Track & Field, National Football League, and Major League Baseball, as well as another independent third party. Samples collected will be tested at a WADA accredited lab and athletes found in violation will be subject to penalties such as disqualification, forfeiture of prizes, and banishment from future competition.

“Obstacle Course Racing is evolving at an incredible pace and we each have a responsibility to nurture the sport as it grows. Through this initiative, we believe the OCRWC can responsibly contribute to that growth,” said Bijanada.

Further details regarding testing protocols and policies will be made available to athletes in the coming weeks. Educational resources will also be made available to athletes on the OCR World Championships website.
