Connection to the Community

To most OCR enthusiasts, Spartan Race is one of the most influential racing series due to the variety of domestic and international races they offer. For many beginners, the Spartan Race Expo short courses may prove to be a great introduction to Spartan Race and OCR.

Spartan Race Expo short courses can be found at community events like the 2018 Philadelphia Fitness Expo or the 2019 Washington D.C., NBC4 Telemundo Health and Fitness Expo. These events often include health screenings and free fitness class demonstrations, encouraging attendees to try something new. The Spartan Race short course was one of the more popular events at the Washington, D.C. expo with a large, indoor course designed to attract various fitness levels seeking to conquer a few obstacles. Regardless of their outcome, the short course encouraged people to step out of their fitness comfort zone.

The Power of Coaching and Support

The surge of obstacle course racing training videos and online coaching is exactly what is needed to boost interest in OCR. Unfortunately, some folks who may be interested in OCR are scared off by the risk of injury. One of the benefits of the Spartan Race short course is that expo attendees can try out obstacles in a safe environment while also realizing the importance of proper training and OCR coaching.  Seasoned OCR Racers act as volunteer coaches, helping attendees through various obstacles and teaching them the etiquette of OCR racing.
