Course Description:
Calling all Vikings to the ultimate challenge of rugged terrain and heart-pounding obstacles. 5 miles and more than 30 fixed obstacles await you in the Great Northern Catskills of Greene County, New York.
Beware of the Troll Traps, ring the bell at the top of Loki's Ladders, crawl under Freya's Cloak and over Odin's Tables. Slither through the Down N' Dirty, find your balance through the Asgard Skywalk on your way to the Norse Poles. Get a grip on the 104' traverse wall, past Arnie's Armbusters, visit Frigg and don't get caught in the 47' inclined monkey bars called the Dragon's Tooth. Make your way through Valhalla's Moat to the glorious finish at the Viking Gate. Celebrate like the Norse legends at the after party.
Aid Stations:
There will be 3 water stops.
Paramedics will be on the course and at the finish line.
There will be water and snacks at the finish.
All race registrations include lunch and a beer/beverage ticket.
Awards:
Who will win the coveted Thor's Hammer?
Prizes for top 3 male/female in the elite wave, Top 3 male/female open heats. Fastest Team.
There will be an awards ceremony at the after party.
Spectators:
Spectators are FREE. There will be free 'Just For Fun' resort rides provided from the start line/party area to our designated spectator viewing area. Spectators can purchase food and beverage tickets on-site.
Parking:
Parking is FREE. Carpooling is recommended. Parking shuttles will be available.
Post Party:
The after-party will be at the finish line. This will include a bbq lunch and beer/beverages. There will be a DJ on site. Racers who chose to use our Race and Stay event package at our all-inclusive family resort will have access to the resorts amenities including meals and evening entertainment.
Other:
Sunny Hill Viking Obstacle Race offers a unique race experience in that you can race and stay at our family owned all-inclusive resort. The resort is celebrating our 95th season in business and with the fixed obstacle course racers are guaranteed that the Viking is not going anywhere.
The resort gives back to the community by providing a donation to the Greenville Rescue Squad for their time and attention to keeping our racers safe.
We plan to hold the Viking Obstacle Race biannual with a spring and fall race. Our fall race is scheduled for September 20, 2014. Since we are a family-friendly resort we have plans to complete a kids obstacle course in 2014.
The obstacle course is open for group and individual training. As always, when you are a guest at the resort use of the course is included in your stay. When participating in the race the minimum age is 14, However when utilizing the course for training purposes all ages are permitted on the course with adult supervision and signed waivers.
There are water obstacles on the course with lifeguards on duty for race day. Swimming skills are recommended.
There is a shower station and changing area available.
Team:
Teams are welcome. Registration has an option to sign up as an individual or team. Teams must consist of at least three members including one female. The top three fastest times will be used for scoring.
