VIEW MORE DETAILS

Course Description:

The course is approximately 5k, primarily winding through several acres of forest.
There will be walls, crawls, nets, ropes, bars, and all kinds of wooden objects. We hope some of the obstacles surprise and push you.
We're not calling it ""The hardest 5k in Mississippi"" for nothing.
There will be a separate ~1 mile course for kids aged 5-11.

Aid Stations:

There will be an aid station you pass twice, but if you're really nervous about hydration on a 3 mile course, there will be additional puddles to lap.
There will also be food at the finish line including fruit, water, and other miscellaneous snacks.
Finally, we will have volunteers at every obstacle and paramedics on hand in the event of any accidents.

Awards:

There will be an awards ceremony recognizing the top male and female finishers for the following age groups: 12-15, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60+.
Awards for the Elite Heat only include a cash prize for the top 3 male and female finishers. 1st place: $300, 2nd place: $200, 3rd place: $100.
Finally, we will have awards for the #1 team in each group of 4-6* members. The categories are: Business, Crossfit Group, Athletic Team, All Female, All Male, Friends, Church, *Immediate Family (3+).
Note: Teams start together; teams finish together. Your team wins if they beat every other team in your category. Major bragging rights included.

Prizes:

No additional prizes at this time.

Spectators:

Spectating is totally free and encouraged.
There will be designated viewing areas which the course will wind past several times at the beginning, middle, and end of the race.

Parking:

Parking is FREE and there is plenty of it.
Most spaces will be less than 100 yards from the registration area. The starting line is only a few hundred yards from registration.

Post Party:

Last year we had the local radio station, Star 93.5, on site. We had free food for participants and vendors for spectators.
This year we hope to do much more.

Other:

All proceeds go to charity. Not 10%; not 1%; not 0.1%. 100% of proceeds go to charity. Don't let it scare you that we're not making bookoodles of money and so we won't try to put on a great race. Exactly the opposite. We're doing this for others and so we have to do even better.
All racers are automatically entered for age group awards whether in the elite or challenge heats.
There is something for everyone at our race so don't be discouraged if you're not 18, yet! I can't promise you'll be able to handle the course, but you're sure welcome to try. Kids aged 12-17 are able to run in our challenge heats and kids aged 5-11 are eligible for our Kids Heat!
Please show up no later that half an hour before your scheduled wave.
If you are 16 years old or older and you love extra competition, then you’re eligible and can sign up for the ELITE heat. Only those competing in the ELITE heat will be eligible for cash prizes. This heat is the first heat of the day, when the course is still in prime condition. If you choose to run this heat, we not only expect you to complete every obstacle, but we will expect you to complete it in a certain way. This will be our best, but toughest, course. We will put a lot of work into the ELITE heat. We think it’s something that the competitor in you will enjoy.
There will be plenty of parking available for you on our campus! Just show up and we’ll show you where to park.
The Mud Heights obstacle course is risky. You will be climbing, jumping, and crawling through mud and water. We want you to be as careful as possible, and you are welcome to skip any obstacle that makes you too nervous (however, if you’re competing in the ELITE wave, skipping an obstacle will disqualify you from the prize). We will also have volunteers and paramedics on hand in the event of any accidents.
Definitely don't wear anything you want to be assured of keeping! Wear anything that can get super muddy. That said, running your shoes through the wash (by themselves!) will likely restore their complete usefulness. Just don’t expect to wear a white t-shirt and have it remain its whitest.
Costumes are allowed for sure. The more creative the better!
The obstacles and mud will provide an element of challenge and adventure even for our non-runner participants! Feel free to walk between tackling obstacles if that is more your speed.
There will be water, but none of it should go over your head. If you are really, really short, and can't swim, and find yourself in over your head, so to speak, there will be volunteers to assist you.
We will not have childcare provided at this event. However, there will be jump houses with responsible chaperones provided.
Remember that there is a separate fun run for the kids! Anyone aged 15 or under can run in the 1-mile mud run. This run is just for fun, though – no prizes for this event. If your child wants to run with you on the main course, they definitely can. You will be responsible for staying with and taking responsibility for any child 12 years old or younger.
You can bring your pets, but they are not allowed to run the race with you! The same rule of responsibility also applies with your pets.
We will not have actual showers, but we will have something better! The Clinton Fire Department will provide a water stream to rinse off. There will also be access to places to change clothes.
You pick up your registration materials on the race day, or you can pick them up early on Thursday the 26th or Friday the 27th!
You can receive the registration fee back in case of an emergency.
If There Is Bad Weather On The Day Of The Race, Game On. Rain = even more mud!

Team:

Teams will start together and teams will finish together. We believe that teams are stronger than the sum of their parts, so we will help you out by mandating that you stay together. If you are totally hardcore, don't invite any slowpokes to your team, unless you want to carry them. That actually would be hardcore.
We want to cultivate healthy competition and fun. So, if you hate fun, you're going to want to avoid this. If you love fun, bring your team and show everybody else who the strongest and fittest business/family/crossfit/etc. team is in the STATE.
