Course Description:
HARD CHARGE is heading to Des Moines, Iowa August 2 with a four-mile obstacle mission and fleet of TV cameras. The event is benefitting Children's Miracle Network Hospitals at University of Iowa Children's Hospital.
Wanna compete to race on the only OCR TV show? Sign up early to secure a spot in the CHARGE for Glory heats, starting at 8:30 a.m. Or, go at your own pace individually or as a team in the CHARGE for Fun heats, which kick off at 10:00. You can always have good, clean fun as a volunteer on our CHARGE Crew.
HARD CHARGE Des Moines is the event of summer & you don't want to miss out. Register early to save your spot at the start line.
HARD CHARGE is the toughest experience you will ever love! Our events are four to six miles of obstacles, mud and mayhem. Each course is designed to challenge you and get you pumped up for the awesome post-race party at CHARGER Village - complete with food, fun and beverages. It doesn’t matter your current fitness level, HARD CHARGE will test you and push you to the max. When the dust has settled and the mud has dried, you'll already be looking forward to taking on your next HARD CHARGE mission!
Charge for Fun: Fire up for a fun and intense HARD CHARGE course that will get you muddy, sweaty and maybe even a little bloody - but rest assured, we'll have world-class medical professionals ready and rarin' to go. Navigate the course at your own pace individually, or tackle the mission with your team. And don't worry if you can't make it through an obstacle. There are plenty more waiting to be conquered!
Charge for Glory: This is the time to put it all out there. Give it everything you've got and compete for the chance to be on TV on a HARD CHARGE course designed to test your speed, strength and stamina. Timed and marshaled, you'll be put to the test throughout the entire course. Can't make it through and obstacle? You're gonna pay!
Obstacle list May Include: Drag Racer, Hit the Wall, Final 40, Abusement Park, No Holds Barred, Will Hill, Vertical Vengeance, Tunnel Rat, Through the Woods, Stormin' the Desert, Sobriety Check, Skid Mark, Scale the Skins, Russian Front, Pourin' Rage, muddy Mission, Knee knocker, Kick the Tires, Jalopy Justice, Gritty Ridge, Final Charge, Ducka dn Cover, Blockage Barrage, Black Hole, Back Scratcher, Aqua Assault, Angled Ambush.
Aid Stations:
We will have medics on site along with water station, food and beverages. Water stations will also be placed along the course in different areas. We're partnered with Amphibious Medics, a fantastic group that specializes in obstacle course races. There's a medical tent in CHARGER Village, and the team will be ready to spring into action on the course, whether it's a minor mishap or serious injury.
Awards:
There is an awards ceremony for the top 10 men and the 10 ten women from each age group that competed in the CHARGE for Glory. The age groups are the following
18-29 years old
30-39 years old
40+ years old
Prizes:
Medals for the top 10 in each age division. Trophies, travel stipend and a free registration to the next HARD CHARGE event for the top 3 men and the top 3 women.
Spectators:
Spectator fee is free. The course won’t be entirely open to spectators. But there will be several areas along the course they can watch, including at the start and finish.
Parking:
There will be a $10 fee for parking. You may receive specific parking information prior to the event. Please follow these important directions.
Post Party:
There is a post-race party with music, food and beer that await both participants and spectators.
Other:
You must be at least 18 years old to participate.
The top individual finishers in each age division qualify for the televised Charge, regardless of heat. The top six co-ed teams overall qualify, regardless of heat. HARD CHARGE will be seen on select local markets, beginning this summer. Check the website often to find out where and when to watch HARD CHARGE. Full episodes will also be available on our site.
HARD CHARGE is a proud partner of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. A portion of every registration, as well as 100% of funds raised through HARD CHARGE, goes directly to your local CMN Hospital.
Beyond monetary support, HARD CHARGE is committed to furthering awareness of CMN and all it does for children’s hospitals across the country. From human interest features and PSAs in our TV show to signage and a special VIP Tent at every event, Children’s Miracle Network is part of nearly every aspect of HARD CHARGE and integrated into our brand. Team:
You can CHARGE individually or as part of a team. We love the camaraderie that goes with being part of a team, so it’s definitely recommended to round up your friends and take on the mission as a group. If you are going as a team, don’t half-ass it. Wear matching shirts, sport bright knee socks, dress in full costumes or even carry a team flag. Make it fun or make it serious, just make a scene.
