Marine Mud Challenge In the fall of 2007, Four Marines from the Marine Corps Detachment Fort Gordon traveled to Columbia, South Carolina to compete in the 14th Annual USMC Mud Run. Even though tired, sore and bruised, all four had the time of their lives. During the long drive back the Marines discussed why Fort Gordon couldn't have a similar event. The next morning they visited the Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR)Special Events Coordinator and asked that question. He stated that unfortunately a lack of manpower and an event host had prohibited the event from coming to post. The Marines bringing their typical Gung-Ho attitude volunteered to build the course and host the event if MWR would help coordinate the logistics. With that partnership in place, the Marine Mud Challenge was born and has developed into an annual event which started in 2008 aboard Fort Gordon. It is hosted by the Marine Detachment Fort Gordon in association with Fort Gordon MWR.

Course Description:

As always the Marine Mud Challenge is a team event. We offer 5 Adult categories: Competitive Male, Competitive Female, Competitive Coed, Competitive Hard Corps and Non-Competitive. This 5 mile course will be a challenging off-road route with more than 25 obstacles, a stream crossing, hills and of course MUD! These range from walls, water, hills, leaps, and of course mud.
Please don't forget to bring your younger adventurers with you. We have an amazing, self contained 1-mile course just for the kids that has a series of appropriately sized obstacles made just for them and of course plenty of mud.

Aid Stations:

Wash down and changing facilities will be available.
Water will be available during and after event.

Awards:

Top three teams in each competitive category will receive individual awards
Top three competitive Hard Corps teams will be awarded a team trophy.

Spectators:

Spectators are free and can roam the course, as long as they do not interfere or impede any runners.

Parking:

Free parking in vicinity of race start.
