Organizer:Gaelforce Events It’s a lot more craic than just running in the mud!
Turf Guy is a bog-crawling, wall-leaping, rope-swinging, bone chilling and extremely fun event. It is held on the most challenging and rugged terrain Ireland has to offer on the banks of Killary Fjord, Leenane, Co. Galway.
This is a Gaelforce event. We have invested heavily into our top class course using one of the UK’s top ropes course and sky frames builders. This event will be a mental and physical challenge but will also be lots of fun. The course is approximately 10km long. We are not just tyres and cargo nets.......come along and find out for yourself on November 3rd!
Turf guys and girls conquer extreme obstacles, push their limits and celebrate with an epic fancy dress party, music and good old Irish craic!

The Turf Guy course will be approx 10km long but don’t let this short
distance fool you into thinking that it won’t test your endurance!
We have built lots of elements throughout the course which tested your fitness, endurance, mental strength..........! As it was a long winter and a very wet summer we have had a lot of spare time to come up with more weird and wonderful elements, so you never know what you might find around the corner this year!!!
There is approx an 5km run/jog at the beginning of the course to spread out the field of competitors and reduce the congestion at certain elements. However please be aware that there may be a little wait at some elements, if waiting you can either help fellow competitors complete the obstacle of just watch them struggle! Expect to be running through the energy sapping Connemara bog, jumping into the pure waters of Killary Fjord and scrambling over many an obstacle put in your path!
Please be warned that your clothing will get extremely wet and dirty. You do not need any special skills for the course but will need some upper body strength for some elements of the course, and must be comfortable in waist deep water. Also you will be climbing through, under and over trees, fallen trees, climbing ropes, jumping off obstacles and much more so you may receive cuts, bruises and grazes.
We highly reccommend that you wear full body cover, not just shorts and T shirt..........also it will be November so it may be a bit nippy!!
There are various water stations throughout the course.
We will have our unique trophies and a free entry to next year's event for the first 3 Warriors & Warrioresses.
The first team to crawl over the line will also gets a free entry into next year's event and those in 2nd place will get a prize too. Teams must cross the line together holding hands - make sure to let us know that you are a team!
Remember you must be in the Elite Wave to win a prize.
Spectators are more than welcome on any part of the course however no cars are allowed anywhere on the course. All viewing points must be walked to from the Killary Centre.
Parking is limited so please try to car pool and follow marshals' instructions when you arrive.
The Turf Warrior afterparty has become nearly as popular as the race itself. Ooooh Yeah!
After watching your fellow competitors covered in mud with clothes ripped off all day, its now time to get down and dirty in another way (we're talking about dancing of course).
Try not to wear anything that is cotton.
We recommend taping on your shoes with electrical tape.
All clothing you wear will get very dirty, wet and potentially ripped so do not wear designer gear!
We highly recommend you wear full body cover, NEVER just shorts and t-shirts.
Be aware that you will be climbing over rough surfaces and through brambles and much more and you will probably receive cuts, bruises and grazes.
We have great discounts for groups, schools and youth clubs so just call us and let us put together a package for you.
