Gretna Gritty This event is a 5k mud run with 15 obstacles set in the beautiful rugged terrain of Gretna Glen. Participants can expect to encounter mud, water, fire, rocks, earth, and climbs that excite the mud runner in us all! Our 5k Walk-A-Thon is at 10:00 in between the competitive and non competitive heats - where walkers can walk beside the Gritty and check out the fun. NEW this year, is a kids run - 'the Nitty Gritty'which gets kids (5-11 years old) in on the action with a 1 mile fun run and leaves them with a sweet headband to celebrate their accomplishment. All runners, and walkers can expect lunch or breakfast (depending on your time of run), a t-shirt, and memories to last a lifetime.

Our Goal:
Have an AMAZING event with the BEST course around & Raise $75,000 for Gretna Glen's 'Pathways to the Future' finance initiative. All proceeds for this event, excluding the costs of participation, will go directly toward Gretna Glen Camp & Retreat Center's 'Pathway to the Future' Initiative. We seek to cast off our burden of debt so that camp can continue free of financial struggle, transforming lives for many years to come. Our goal this year is to have at least 600 runners and raise more than $75,000! With your help, we can make this come true.

Nitty Gritty: $12 per child - all kids receive lunch and an official Gretna Gritty headband.
All refunds BEFORE April 25th, 2014 will be paid in full, refunds after that time will be deducted $15 in administrative and material costs.

Course Description:

Our course is set in the beautiful rugged terrain of Gretna Glen which sits on the Mt. Gretna Pennsylvania hillside. Runners should expect varied terrain, roots, rocks, creeks, and certainly plenty of hills. If you don't stop to take in your surrounding on the run, you've missed a wonderful opportunity.

Aid Stations:

We are proud of our community emergency response teams and their strong commitment to providing an on-site presence at our event. We will have aid stations with licensed nurses, and basic first aid available. We will have fire department personnel at all obstacles involving fire, and there will be an ambulance on site for the duration of the event.

Awards:

Awards will be given out for the first place contestant from each heat, and the top three overall men, women, and teams. Competitive teams consist of no more or less than four people. If you have someone drop out, and they are not replaced, we will treat your registrations as individual registration. Non-competitive teams can be as big as you'd like.

Prizes:

There will be fun prizes, and prizes attached to the awards given.

Spectators:

Spectators are welcome and encouraged. Please carpool! We will have a limited lunch available to spectators at no charge, and there are even ways for spectators to get in on the fun!

Parking:

We will be parking on site and off site at satellite lots. You will be directed by personnel to the appropriate parking, and all off site parking will be shuttled to the event.
