Gretna Gritty This event is a 5k mud run with 15 obstacles set in the beautiful rugged terrain of Gretna Glen. Participants can expect to encounter mud, water, fire, rocks, earth, and climbs that excite the mud runner in us all! Our 5k Walk-A-Thon is at 10:00 in between the competitive and non competitive heats - where walkers can walk beside the Gritty and check out the fun. NEW this year, is a kids run - 'the Nitty Gritty'which gets kids (5-11 years old) in on the action with a 1 mile fun run and leaves them with a sweet headband to celebrate their accomplishment. All runners, and walkers can expect lunch or breakfast (depending on your time of run), a t-shirt, and memories to last a lifetime.

Our Goal:
Have an AMAZING event with the BEST course around & Raise $75,000 for Gretna Glen's 'Pathways to the Future' finance initiative. All proceeds for this event, excluding the costs of participation, will go directly toward Gretna Glen Camp & Retreat Center's 'Pathway to the Future' Initiative. We seek to cast off our burden of debt so that camp can continue free of financial struggle, transforming lives for many years to come. Our goal this year is to have at least 600 runners and raise more than $75,000! With your help, we can make this come true.

Course Description:

25+ obstacles over 5K of rugged Mt. Gretna terrain in South Central Pennsylvania. Mud, Fire, Water, Rocks, Ladders, Cargo Nets, and more! There is something for everyone!

Aid Stations:

We will have an aid station at the 0.5 mile marker, and close to the 2 mile marker. We have fire crews and an ambulance on standby for the duration of the event, and several registered nurses on site to manage any healthcare needs. Lastly - we have a team of trained machinery operators that can reach any participant in a matter of minutes to provide assistance.

Awards:

The award ceremony for the Competitive Event will begin promptly at 9:30 am. Awards will be given for: Top 3 Male Overall, Top 3 Female Overall, Top 3 Teams.
Recognition will be given for the top finishers in each age category (12,19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+).
Results will also be posted online within 12 hours of the completion of the event.

Spectators:

Specators are free - we ask you to carpool and will have satellite parking available for all spectators with a shuttle to Gretna Glen.

Parking:

We will send out the final parking and logistical update until 1 week before the event.

Post Party:

Music and Fellowship after the event while you enjoy your free lunch! Lunches are also available for purchase for extra hungry runners, or spectators.

Other:

We also have showers to rinse of the mud and changing tents to get out of the wet clothes and into some dry ones. We recommend bringing a change of clothes, shoes, towel and a plastic bag for your wet clothes.We also have a shoe donation for a good cause.
THIS YEAR - 50% of our proceeds will be donated towards Gretna Glen's NEW BATHHOUSE! The other 50% will continue to be donated toward our Pathways to the Future Finance Initiative.
