Course Description:

The course utilizes over 100 acres of the Frank Lorino Park sports complex with transitions from paved sidewalks, through flat open fields and onto wooded trails. There will be 35 obstacles designed to challenge experienced runners and novice participants alike. Below are a few of the obstacles and how they represent a survivors path to overcoming violence.
*Overcome/Understand: Survivors undergo repetitive trauma that they must rise above over and over again. Participants duck under and climb over multiple obstacles.
*Regain your balance beams: Trauma knocks victims off balance and healing happens only when balance is restored. Participants will walk a complex system of beams.
*Hill tire crawl: While dragging the weight of their trauma, Overcomers have to crawl before they can run. Participants drag a tire up hill, under a web of ropes.
*WSCC GOAL traverse: Survivors must hang on and keep moving forward to Overcome abuse. Participants will move from one side of a soccer goal to the other.
*Slam Ball: Overcomers persevere through the rise and fall of their belief in their own ability to survive and thrive. Participants will pick up and slam heavy balls.
*Roll,Roll,Roll: The Cycle of violence is a repetitive pattern of behaviors by the abuser intended to control the victim. Participants will roll across a field under a web of ropes.
*Strong wall: Victims face challenges that require help from others to overcome. Participants will have to go up and over an 8 ft. wall.
*The pit of despair: Adults and children who experience domestic violence have increased risk to experience depression. Participants drop into a large mud pit and must climb up and over a series of large poles before climbing out the other side.
*Tuff Torq Log carry: The Burden of violence is awkward and difficult to carry. Participants carry logs up a hill and back.
*Give a flip: Moving large obstacles like culturally accepted violence is a task for everyone. Participants flip large tractor tires.
*Tunnel of Hopes: Abusers put victims in a very dark place where they often have a steep, uphill climb to reach the light at the end of the tunnel. Participants climb uphill in a large black tube.

Aid Stations:

There will be four water stations along the course. Paramedics will be stationed throughout the course. There will be refreshments, fruit and water at the finish line.
