Race Start Time:
As we’ve done for the past several years, start waves will be every 15 minutes. We changed things slightly this year though. Now when you register, you can choose your exact start time, ranging from 8:45 am to 12:15 pm. Note that waves beginning 8:45 am – 10:00 am will be the Competitive Waves and only the Competitive Waves are eligible for awards. The awards ceremony will take place at 1:30 pm. If you want to be in the same wave as another team, just register for the same time. Please allow at least 30 – 45 minutes for the registration process. You will also need to be in the staging area 15 minutes prior to your wave start time where you will receive your map and course instructions.

Course Description:
135 acres of rugged PA terrain with a mix of trails, streams and various vegetation. There will also be a festive atmosphere at the event headquarters with music, food and beverages available.
We prefer to think of things in terms of time and not distance. You will have a maximum of 3 hours in the Arena to complete as many challenges and obstacles as possible. The terrain will vary from trails to thick vegetation. The total distance you travel will greatly depend on how fast you go and how many challenges/obstacles you attempt.
The next step in Obstacle Racing... Teams of 2 enter the Arena. Each team chooses its own course and the obstacles to be tackled. Some will be physical, some will be mental, ALL will be challenging. Time limit: 3 hours Victory goes to the team that can conquer the most obstacles in the shortest amount of time.
The ""Arena"" contains varied terrain with trails as well as some rugged areas with dense vegetation. Come prepared for an adventure! You can expect some of the traditional obstacles like walls and ropes, but that’s about it. We’ll have plenty of new and different physical and mental challenges that will require good strategy and teamwork. While we’d like to keep most of it secret until event day to keep the adventure at a maximum, here’s a little preview.
The “Games” courses have approximately 15-20 challenges/obstacles. Of these, some are physical, some are mental and some will be a combination of both. While we don’t want to give too much away, here are some examples:

Creek Crawl
Take Aim (Slingshots)
Rope Maze
Tangram Puzzle
Disc Toss
Lego Challenge
Finish Wall
Hopefully, that will be enough to wet your appetite and get you thinking!
Aid Stations:
There will be water available at select locations in the Arena. We will have food and beverages for sale at the event headquarters.
Awards:
Only the Competitive Waves are eligible for awards. The awards ceremony will take place at 1:30 pm.
Spectators:
Spectators are free and there will be some areas specifically set up for them to view challenges.
Parking:
$10. Parking will be at Harmony Beverage 1.4 miles west of Blakeslee, PA on Route 940. This is also a Martz Trailways location (for those that wish to take the bus).
The race registration and headquarters will be a short (approximately 5 – 7 minute) walk from the parking location. There will be signs and a trail leading from the parking area through the woods to the event venue.
Post Party:
There will be a festive atmosphere at our race headquarters with music and a post race party. We will have food and beverages available for sale.
Other:
Krell Adventures will be donating a portion of each team’s registration fee for the Poconos event to Little Eric’s Foundation for the awareness and research of Pediatric Brain & Childhood Cancer. In 2013, we helped to raise money for Eric Speicher, a local young teenage boy, who was diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer. Unfortunately, Eric passed away in late 2013, but his family is committed to helping other children with the disease and have formed the Foundation in his honor. We are proud to join them in this mission.
Kids are allowed to race with a parent/guardian.
The event will be times with Sportident timing chips - these will also be used to track the completion of obstacles.
For the Poconos event, there will be a bag check, outdoor shower and changing areas.
Team:
You will need a teammate to race (and we allow kids to race with a parent!) as many of the obstacles require teamwork to be completed. If you are part of a larger group and have teams that want to race ""head to head"", please email us at info@krelladventures.com and we will do our best to accommodate your request.
