Course Description:

The Mississippi Mud Run will consist of approximately four miles of Mississippi River Valley terrain and various natural and man made obstacles. Participants will be in and out of river bank mud, at least one memorable backwater slough, over stumps and through floodplain trail. Man made obstacles will include whatever we can dream up, but you can expect things built from logs, large and huge tires, rope, round bales, concrete culverts, flatbed trailer(s), wrecked vehicles, and possibly a really big dumpster. ;) This run offers a challenge to warrior folk and tough guys and gals looking to put themselves to the test or beat their friends to the finish. It’s also completely cool if you’re not so much with the competition and just want to have some fun at a more leisurely pace. Groups and costumes are encouraged!

A kids run on a ~1 mile section of the course will be held immediately before the start of the main run. The short course run is open to kids 11 and under. Parents may accompany their kids on the short course run.

Aid Stations:

There will be at least one aid station about midway through the course where you can get a drink of water or a bit of Gatorade. Volunteers will be stationed around the course and at the major obstacles to help if you are having a problem. Ambulance will be standing by during the race. There will be fruit and water at the finish. Also the local fire department have a pretty nice shower contraption they setup so you can get the worst of the mud off on site.

Awards:

Medals will be awarded for 1st and 2nd place for all age divisions!

Prizes:

Cash prizes will be awarded for 1st and 2nd places overall for both Male & Female divisions!
Prizes will also be given for Best Team Name, Best Team Costume, Best Individual Costume and person who traveled the farthest to participate!

Spectators:

Spectating is free, and there are lots of great areas to watch. The waterside and the mud pit / pond about midway through are good spots. The big mud pit at the end is probably the most popular place to spectate.

Parking:

Parking is free and not a problem. There is a large lot for the ballparks where the events starts and you can park along most any of the streets nearby for free also.

Post Party:

There will be someone playing some tunes and there will be some snacks. Keep an eye on the website to see if anything more interesting develops.

Other:

Proceeds of this event will go towards the construction of the ""Prairie du Chien Skate Park"" located in Prairie du Chien Wisconsin.
We aim to make this race appeal to people who are looking for a real physical challenge and also those who just want to have some fun. It just comes down to how fast you go. Getting through this four mile course in a hurry is truly a challenge. Getting through it at a walk or easy pace and skipping the occasional obstacle that looks too hairy is cool to and lets people make it as challenging as you want. We have a large range of participants and probably a 60 / 40 split between fun seekers / serious challenge seeks.

Team:

Official teams are limited to 5 people. You must make sure to indicate your team membership when you register.
