Description

Bring your friends! Grab your parents and siblings, too! Get a taste for adventure racing by taking to the trails of Camp Laughing Waters with your team of two to four people. Run, bike, and use a map to navigate your way from point to point during this two-hour race. * Everyone will be challenged to a fun course full of obstacles—you may get wet or muddy, but you’re guaranteed to have fun.

Afterward, spend the day at camp from 12:30 - 4p.m. for a Camp Fun Day! Try your hand at archery, disc golf, gaga, and volleyball. Enjoy a picnic lunch (self-provided), while you listen to the sounds of our house DJ. Check out our awesome partners at the partner pavilion and meet Girl Scouts from all areas of our council.

*An adult is required to register and participate with team when team members are 12 and under. Note that every checkpoint in the race is optional (but the more you complete, the more points you get!). Don't feel like lugging your bikes out? Not excited about getting in the pool? No problem - you can just skip those points!

Looking for the full camp experience? Stay at camp the night before! Space is limited, so register early for this opportunity. Continental breakfast is included.

  • Troop Tents: $80/2 tents for 4 girls and up to 4 adults

  • Cabin: $100/cabin for 1 family unit up to 10 people

FAQs

Who can participate?

All ages 5 and older. Each team must be composed of at least one member who is a registered member with Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania. An adult is required to register and participate with team when team members are 12 and under. Family and friends are welcome to join a team. Teams can be all Girl Scout girl members or inter-generational. Individuals interested in participating in the race without a Girl Scout team member are welcome to become a registered member with Girl Scouts of Eastern PA.

What is included in the registration fee?

Each participant registered at least two weeks prior to the event will receive an event shirt.

What gear should each team bring to the race?

Visit the Gear Checklist for required and recommended gear your athlete should bring on race day.

What kind of bikes are permitted?

Road bikes or mountain bikes are permitted. No training wheels or aero bars.

Are we required to bring and use a bike?

No, bikes are optional.

How is the race timed?

A stop watch is started at the beginning of the race and allows for two hours on the race clock. All participants will be given the official time so they can sync their watches and track the race clock while they are on the course.

How are age divisions determined for each team?

Divisions for the event are determined by the youngest member of the team.

Ages 5-8 – Hikers

Ages 9-12 – Explorers

Ages 13-15 – Challengers

Ages 16-18 – Adventurers

Does an individual need to train for this race?

At Girl Scouts, we encourage girls to be active outdoors and believe in providing them the opportunity to develop the kind of outdoors skills it is hard to get anywhere else. We believe that anyone with a base level of fitness can complete a two-hour adventure race. Teams that wish to be competitive may elect to train on bike and foot, and physical strength is not a barrier to entry for this event.

Do we need to bring any food or drink?

There will be hydration stations throughout the course with water and/or an energy beverage. Registrants are welcome to bring a bagged lunch to enjoy post-race. We will also have some snacks available for purchase.

Will you email me more information prior to the race?

Yes, registrants will receive a final confirmation 1-2 weeks prior to the event.

Where do I park on race day?

There will be on-site parking available at camp and potentially satellite parking with shuttle service available. More information will be provided in the final confirmation email.

What time does the race start?

Registration: 7:30-9a.m.

Navigation Clinic 9:15a.m.

Pre-Race Meeting: 9:30a.m.

Adventure Race: 10a.m.-12p.m.

Awards Ceremony and Camp Fun Day: 12:30-4p.m. (optional)

Are there overnight accommodations available at camp?

Yes, individuals and groups can stay at camp the night before! Space is limited so register early for this opportunity. Continental breakfast is included.

Can we bring spectators to this event?

Yes, family and friends are welcome to come cheer you and your team on. Camp Fun Day wristbands ($10 each) will be available for purchase for individuals who are not registered race participants but would like to participate in the camp activities from 12:30-4:30p.m. Strollers are permitted, please be advised most of camp is gravel trails. Pets are not permitted.

What if we need to leave early or arrive late?

All participants must be on camp property prior to registration closing at 9a.m. as the roadway will be closed for the race course. If you need to leave early for any reason, please alert the parking attendant so they can park you accordingly and notify you of the proper exiting procedure.
