The Trash Dash 5k at Fair Oaks Park is put on every year by the Environmental League, the staff and students of Conrad and their Environmental League and NAF chapters, along with support from the Vicker Meadows Youth Development Foundation.
This exciting woods-trail race takes you along 3+ miles of beautiful woods trails in a hidden forest that probably less than 1,000 people in Dallas even know is there.
Have you ever done an exercise race? Along the way, you'll come across 10+ student-manned checkpoints where you do a simple easy exercise before proceeding (stuff like 5 jumping jacks or 3 air squats, etc.). If on the other hand, you are really pushing for speed (this IS a chip-timed race, btw), you can buy your way out of the exercise by just dropping a piece of litter off as your run by -- and before you know it, you're plogging!
The Environmental League chapter students of Conrad High School have picked up over 20,000 gallons of litter out of these beautiful woods (don't worry, there's still plenty there) and these kids are committed to returning these woods to a more pristine state. This race is to benefit the Environmental League and the NAF Academy students of our participating schools. Your ticket to this race lets them know how much you appreciate their hard work.
Race scores will be appearing in real-time on the vertical large-screen leaderboard as the runners cross the finish line. Times will also be captured mid-way along the trail, beaming the runners' split-times to the leaderboards as they cross that point.
Swag bag pickup for registered runners starts 1 hour before the race and includes your bib, chip-timer band, Trash Dash 5K t-shirt and more.
