Terrible

Nov 01, 2012 by tre

It's hilarious that all the positive reviews on this page point out that they were all written on the same IP address. This race was terribly organized. There were no markers on the trail. Groups were sent in the wrong direction. The obstacles were ok - when you actually found them. The "flags" people were supposed to hang on to came off during obstacles. The zombies were awful. I feel terrible for anyone who had to pay to be a zombie! Some pictures were taken at one obstacle - unless it was just a guy with his phone being a creeper. Horrible horrible horrible. In addition, the website has no times, no photos etc. Worst race.

Rocks!

Very challenging! I earned my beer that day! The 7ft albino zombie in the parking lot scared the s### out of me though. I wan't expecting the zombies until I got on the course! Does anyone know if the broke the record?

Beauty and the beast

Oct 31, 2012 by Sally

Loved the course, beautiful scenery, but man…. there were some beastly hills out there and if that wasn’t enough, my shoes weighed 10lbs a piece from all the mud I collected in them on the 80ft mud pit up top!
I think it’s so funny those tough guys got lost! They must have thought the yellow caution tape they ran through was a decoration! I saw a bunch of them wearing it like a souvenir. I guess you don’t have to pass an IQ test to be in a mud run, lol.
I think they probably went a bit overboard with the 8ft walls, I made it over both of them, but a zombie stole all my flags when I was climbing up.

Zombie run

Oct 30, 2012 by Adriana

Beautiful course, but I agree with some that I would have liked to have seen more markers. They said there was a big rain storm the night before and that alot of the markers had been knocked down. By the time I ran at noon it was marked pretty well. Obstacles were challenging and the zombies scared the crap out of me! My friends and I cant wait for next year!

Oct 30, 2012 by Latisha

I had a good time but it was way to cold. Obticles were cool but I had to go around a few bc I couldnt climb good enough and the mud n water was just too cold. Maybe next year it wont be so cold. Zombies were awesome.

Complete waste of time and money!
I'm only glad that I got a discounted ticket and didn't have to pay the full price of seventy dollars. The entire event was poorly oraganized. I don't know what race this guy Steve (comment below mine) ran but it doesn't sound like the joke of a 5K I did. I was also in the 9:30 wave and it didn't start only 3 minutes after, but in reality almost twenty minutes late. My friend and I were in first and second place until we, along with most of the wave behind us, got off track because there were little to no signs. The few scattered zombies didn't even know which way we were supposed to go. Luckily we regained the lead and ended up winning our wave, however, our times were completely off due to the organizers incompetency putting this stupid course together. I actually saw that one of the runners in a later race ran some time in the 16s. Really!?!, you're telling me a female runner ran a scholarship time on a course with obstacles?? Maybe I should have cheated and wouldn't be here complaining, but instead kicking back and having an awesome time in Vegas.
Anyways, I was just completely disappointed with this event and would like nothing more than my money back.

Not for the faint of heart

Oct 30, 2012 by Steve

It was a bit cool in the AM, but once you hit the course I warmed up. It was awesome they had warm showers, cheap beer, and a big ass fire waiting for us at the end to warm up though.
My only complaints / recommendations are… I was in the 9:30 wave and we didn’t start until 9:33. I was also in a wave with a lot of quitters that complained the entire way and decided the obstacles were too hard and the mud was too cold and just skipped most of the obstacles. I wouldn’t care, but in doing so they cheated as it is a timed event, the constant whining took away from my individual experience, and disappointed the cheats/quitters then blasted the event coordinators because they couldn’t follow course instruction. I’m not sure how one gets “lost” on a course that has giant yellow tape everywhere, like miles of it, everywhere. In fact, I think some areas were over marked! It’s the woods people! You can’t pave the trail! Seriously, crying about the rocks! It’s “Rocky Hill Ranch”!!! There are rocks in the woods! News flash, there’s water in a mud course, dirt too!
Nonetheless, challenging event, the zombies were funny, and I’d definitely do it again, but only if I could pick a more competitive and positive wave.

Good Run

Oct 29, 2012 by Valeria

My boyfriend and I ran in the 10am wave with about 75 others. We had no trouble finding the obstacles but it was too cold to get in the mud and water so we ran around them. Wish more zombies had shown up but it was probably too cold for them, haha. Had a good time and a good course and very pretty scenery.

Great experience

Oct 29, 2012 by J Williams

I do a few of these a year, so I'm not sure about where the whining is coming from unless we had a different experience in the afternoon. Not sure where a lot of people apparently got lost. My group managed to find all 15 obstacles and a bunch of zombies. About 20 in one spot and arounf double that in another. Could have been more mud, but I think all the mud obstacles were essentially turned into water obstacles from the rains the night before. We enjoyed the raft bridge across a pond the most. They could have used more staff and I wished I had one the trip to Vegas instead of the girl scout who did, but whaddya do? I'll be go back for sure.

Such a disapointment. Completely disorganized, no staff, trails were unmarked, & half of our wave got lost. The finish line was anti-climatic because I just didn't care at the end since our time meant nothing. No music pumping the crowd up and maybe 5 zombies. If I hadn't used a coupon I would demand my money back.
