Great potential but so disappointing. Water jump, cargo net and the final obstacles lots of fun. Now for the rest. Entrance and parking took 45 min. Race start late by over an hour, hot south Florida day 2 water stations, saw many racers injured and getting no help, life jackets for weak swimmers none available. Would love to do it again but will pass on SHS.

Had A Blast

Nov 11, 2013 by Bill

This was one of my favorite events of 2013.

How good was this race? They started the first wave almost an hour late, jeopardizing me getting home in time for my daughters First Communion (I know, I know - the Communion was scheduled AFTER I registered for this race) and I am still giving the race 5 stars.

The setting for this race in the foothills of the North Georgia mountains was beautiful. Parking and registration was easy, and the sign clearly directed us where we needed to go.

As we stood in corral waiting for the start, you could see off in the distance a big, muddy hill/mountain. Talk about intimidating! There was a short run across a field covered in wildflowers, and then everyone hit that first hill. They had obviously used ATV's to churn it into a muddy mess, and it was a very effective terrain obstacle that sucked the energy out of your quads immediately.

The first mile or so was mostly running up and down that first mountain/hill with a tire obstacle and a wire over/under. Once we looped down around the hill the real obstacles started. There was a cargo net going up and over some shipping containers. That was followed by a jump over fire into a pool filled with ice. There was wire over the ice forcing you to submerge.

There were several more brutal hills, the toughest I had seen in an obstacle race (until I experienced the Super Spartan later in the year at Wintergreen.)

There were several walls to climb, a rope climb, rings to swing across (my favorite obstacle), log and sandbag carries, pits to climb out of, a jump into a muddy pool, and the very popular this year slide into a pool of water to finish.

I thought the staff was very friendly, the obstacles were spaced well and LABELLED well, and the atmosphere was a lot of fun.

I look forward to trying some of the longer events in 2014.

Simply the best

Jul 01, 2013 by Mandy

Super Hero Intimidator was my fist ever OCR, and as for by foot is was by far the longest distance race I have done ( I have done a few sprint triathlons). I thought it was great. Very well organized. I went by my self, but left with many new friends. The racers, the volunteers, everyone was so nice and supportive. The obstacles were great I made it through so many that I looked at and said there is no way I am going to make it. but I did. The terrain was brutal, but it was kind of the best part. That is what made it such a challenge. I only saw people taking pictures at the man made obstacles, I wish there was more in the woods in the mud pits and brutal hills, that was the toughest and best part. I cannot wait till next year. I will rock it! And yes as many have said there could be more water stations. That would have been nice, but in every e-mail and sight I saw, they for warned us that there would only be 2 water station and that you are highly encouraged to bring your own water. Next year I will listen to that advice. Wonderful event. And I love the superhero walks program.. just beautiful.

This was my first obstacle run and I really enjoyed it. I always hear about parking issues and this was not the case at this event. The course was challenging a lot of hills and some great obstacles. Needless to say this race has started something I really enjoy and I am signed up for the Intimidator this June.
