Fun but needs work

Nov 09, 2019 by Danny

It was really fun for our first race but there really weren’t many obstacles. There was only one muddy spot as well. Also the ad advertised fee admission but then threw in $15 fee for insurance which I understand but I don't think it should’ve been advertised like that. There were also other charges $5 for the bib $20 for parking once we were there they only accepted cash.

Charging $5 to pick up your race bib is ridiculous!
$20 parking fee. Most obstacles were not very challenging. Definitely not worth it or physically stimulating.

Awful

Oct 26, 2019 by Josh

Only 4 real obstacles over 3 miles. The rest is just running on a gravel road. This company shouldn’t even be in the same category as other OCRs. If you are a child then this would be a great race for you, otherwise save your money. Additionally they $5 dollar you to death. $5 bucks to pick up a bib number, $5 bucks for the privilege of putting your bag on their table, $20 bucks to park in the grass.

After cancelling the race with less than 24 hrs notice and several people driving quite a distance from the actual supposed race site to pick up packets that were not there (that’s where we first learned about the cancellation), I asked for a refund. I was denied a refund saying that it stated during registration that it was a no refund event. The only thing it said about refunds was that it would not be refunded if cancelled due to weather. This cancellation was due to poor planning and not getting required permits for city ordinance, not weather. Needless to say, we will not be signing up for this race in the future.

Very disappointed that the race was cancelled less than 24 hours before start time, with no reasoning

Great race with fun obstacles and LOTS of chances of get down and dirty in the mud :)

Not the best, but good for first timers.

Sep 15, 2019 by Octavia

I did not have high hopes going into this race due to other reviews, but it wasn't horrible. The obstacles were well built and self explanatory. The mini monkey race was a lot of fun for my kiddo. The most disappointing part was that they nickel and dime you to death. 20 to have someone "park" us and then having to pay 5 dollars for a bib because I couldn't drive 2 hours to get it the night before? Rip off. And even though this is billed as a mud run it most definitely wasn't. There were two "mud pits". If this is your first OCR it may be worth it. For the OCR vets I still say Rugged Maniac is the best race out there.

Terrain Race MD

People shit on this brand but I really don't get it. 15 or 20 online, then 30 dollars in fees on race day(only 10 more than spartan or savage). For that price I dont expect chip timing, free photos, or free beer, just a fun time. The obstacle spread was decent with plenty of rigs and Walls. Bottle necking sucked but you're not being timed so just be a decent human and have some patience. Also, there is nothing stopping you from running all day. Hopping in the start corral is simple those unattendive volunteers all of a sudden become a plus. If you want to be a pro ocr racer or look like one onFacebook, you probably hate terrain. if you are just looking for a simple but fun course for a decent price, sign up. Its "free"

Event Name: Denver (Erie), CO Terrain Race 2019

Not even worth the $15 is right!!! Besides the total lack of parking with long drive lines, the race organization is terrible. Tone of walkers and long lines at obstacles were disappointing. No real post-race treats and cheap shirts. Only 2 wash off hoses for 13,500 racers... WHAT?! Most concerning was running right past a Fracking site, watching a worker less than 20 yards away in a full haz-mat suit. Did I poison myself while attending a less than mediocre walking event? Will NOT do this race again.

Where were the obstacles?!

Aug 26, 2019 by Justin Esteves

Never doing terrain race again. Very disorganized, no one taking pictures of you when your at obstacles! No free beer at end of race! They nickel and dime you the whole time. There are way better ones worth the price. Rugged Maniac, Tough mudder, spartan race offer mich more even when you get discounted tickets. They usually have free fruit and sports drinks for when you finish. Terrain race offered water and wanted you to pay for everything else. PLEASE NEVER SIGN UP FOR THIS RACE!!
