BFX Nutrition

By |July 28th, 2016|

For BattleFrog Xtreme and other multi-lap events, nutrition can make or break your performance. Unlike a short 5k or 5-mile race where nutritional mistakes can easily be overcome, the effects of nutrition on race day are crucial. Furthermore, a mistake early on can have a compounding effect as your body depletes muscle glycogen and desperately tries to refill your fuel tank faster than you are emptying it.

BattleFrog Series Update – BFX Rule Change

By |May 3rd, 2016|

Since the inception of BattleFrog’s BFX, there have been several changes to tighten and hone the design to accommodate the growing numbers. But since the very first representation, the one thing that the athletes have called out for, was mandatory obstacle completion. Okay racers…you spoke, they listened. We spoke to David Moore, BattleFrog’s wearer of [...]

At BattleFrog, ‘BF’ Now Means “Beginner Friendly”

By |March 28th, 2016|

BattleFrog Series is nothing if not ambitious; scaling an event from 3-6 events is a big deal, and moving into a new state is fraught with difficulty on levels of magnitude to putting on an event in your home market - ask any race company in (or out) of business now. What BFS did is beyond definition, and beyond reckless for any other event to even attempt. The sport is littered with the carcasses of races that tried, yet this is not a homage to their failures, it's a nod to the audacity of BattleFrog's ownership and executive management; they have a plan of action that would make any CPA tremble.

BattleFrog BFX24 – The Joys of Covering a 24 Hour Race

By |March 22nd, 2016|

There was something inevitable about being a part of this race for me. I've always been intrigued with OCR endurance races, even though I haven't had a chance to participate or even watch one. So when BattleFrog initially announced the BFX24 I knew that I wanted to be a part of that somehow. Initially, when BattleFrog announced the race though, I had planned to run the 24 hours or at least as much of it as I could.

Last Weekend in OCR

By |March 7th, 2016|

With races spanning beginner-friendly to truly “Xtreme”, and temperatures ranging from brisk to cloyingly humid, we saw an exciting array of events this last weekend. Spartan Race had a brisk send-off in Atlanta, BattleFrog Series held their inaugural BFX24 endurance event in Miami, Terrain Racing, Warrior Dash, and Dirty Girl Mud Run brought the party to Texas; in Dallas, Austin, and San Antonio!

BFX24: 9-Year Old is Youngest BFX24 Competitor

By |March 3rd, 2016|

When Milla Star Bizzotto takes to the starting line on Friday, she is sure to stand out from the rest of the female competition. This 9-year old is taking up the challenge this weekend at BFX24 with her father Christian Bizzotto. While most of Milla's peers are mostly interested in video games and selfies, she has taken up a different cause. Milla is leading a movement called #InspirationForTheiPadGeneration and her goal is to inspire her peers to get out and get active.

BattleFrog Series: BFX Las Vegas

By |March 1st, 2016|

The most intense way to check out a new to the west coast obstacle race series is to do as many laps of their course as possible. That's exactly what BattleFrog Xtreme (BFX) is all about: a special category for the crazies that want to be on course all day long and compete to see who can complete the most laps in the allotted time (8:15am-last lap starting before 2:45 pm). This weekend I took first place overall with seven laps (51.3km, 31.8mi). BFX Vegas was my second BFX, so this review/recap is geared towards people considering trying a BattleFrog and people trying to do better at multi-lap events like BFX.

BattleFrog Series Los Angeles Race Recap

By |February 8th, 2016|

It's official, West Coast Loves BattleFrog. This past weekend, BattleFrog held it's third event of the year in Chino Hills California at Prado Regional Park. The Venue was mostly flat with a variety of terrain from running in the grass, dirt trails, and a swampy section that I can only describe as Yoda's back yard [...]

14-Year Old Completes 4 Laps at BattleFrog Pittsburgh

By |August 13th, 2015|

One of the most talked about performances of the day came from fourteen-year-old wunderkind Nathen Snyder, who also completed four incredible laps in the BattleFrog Extreme Race (BFX) and, amazingly, appeared ready for more when the BFX clock expired.
