Facility Review: Legendary Fitness / Milwaukee, WI

By |February 26th, 2018|

Stumbling upon Legendary Fitness just outside Milwaukee, Wisconsin on a weekend visit with old college friends was quite the happy accident. This facility and staff set the bar exceedingly high for the next time gym I visit closer to my home in the South. Allow me to rewind and review my 90-minute play session at Legendary Fitness.

This week on Training Tuesday, Spartan Race trainers bring you through a killer workout to help successfully complete the Spartan Monkey Bars. By |February 6th, 2018|

How’s that resolution holding up? Are you as dedicated as ever, or are your workouts becoming stale? You finished last month’s challenge, but have you neglected the teachings of the one before? By |January 11th, 2018|

Core Strength and obstacle course racing go hand in hand.  A strong core is necessary to complete many of the obstacles we encounter during a race and it even plays a role in our running form.  By improving our core strength we can improve our race day performance and decrease our risk of injury.

January First Fitness

By |January 1st, 2018|

The joys of summer semi-freedom-from-clothes days are still 6 months away, and this message is going out to the 99% of us who didn’t just step out of an American Eagle ad for just long enough to slather some coconut oil on our rippling 6-pack abs. In other words, if your shoe size is a bigger number than your body fat percentage, go back to selecting the right pomade for your surfer ‘do, as there’s nothing new for you to learn here.

Gear Review – OCR Beast Grip Builder 101

By |December 7th, 2017|

As many OCR athletes enter the dreaded off-season, we reflect on the skills that need developing in the coming months. In my informal research, I see a very common thread among us—we must build that iron grip. “Nevermore will a rig claim our burpees/souls!” we exclaim in our goals for 2018. That’s a solid goal, but where the heck does one start? Enter Grip Builder 101 developed by the team at OCR Beast.
