Last Week in OCR: Spartans, Fugitives, and Warriors Splashed

Obstacle racing has entered the dog days of summer as the racing season pushes on. Many of the familiar names took this last weekend off offering some new faces to reach the podium over the weekend as the sport inches closer to the world championship season this fall.


 

Summer Splash at The Battlegrounds

Mud Run Guide hosted the first Summer Splash event yesterday at the Battlegrounds permanent obstacle course outside of Saint Louis, Missouri. The family friendly event drew in athletes locally as well as others who traveled across the country to race in the event. The first heat of the day was a qualifier for OCR World Championships and the rest of the day consisted of open waves in which parents could run the course with their kids, helping to foster the next generation of obstacle racers.

Fugitive Run

Fugitive Run took place on Saturday in Rolla, Missouri. This permanent obstacle course is located in and around an old rock quarry featuring a 20-foot cliff jump, giant slide and about 100 obstacles on the 4-mile course. The event drew in many local and regional racers as well as racers who took on the Missouri double header this weekend with Summer Splash on Sunday.

The competitive race awarded $1,000 dollars to the top man and top women in the competitive heat. Competitive racers had to successly complete all obstacles to be eligable for prizes.

Spartan Race Pennsylvania

Spartan Race was in Pennsylvania again this weekend with its second weekend in Palmerton, PA. Athletes took on the challenging mountainous course at Blue Mountain yet again. The course sent athletes up and down the ski slopes of the winter ski resort as well as traversing through the woods. This weekend some new and old faces were seen on the podium on this sprint course.

Spartan Race San Francisco

Spartan Race headed to AT&T  Stadium outside of San Francisco for latest stadium race in the series. The race drew athletes from across the western states to compete in this fast paced event.

Warrior Dash Seattle

Warrior Dash headed to Washington state over the weekend for it's latest race on the road to the Warrior Dash World Championships this fall. Phil Rock was the fastest runner of the day with Colton Mady second and Ross Hamilton third. Sara Knight was the fastest woman in the race with Choe Melikian second and Alanna Steele in third.
