LAST WEEK IN OCR – 3/21/16

It was a busy week for our sport all over the world, with your solid basics, three-day challenges, televised team relays, and the unveiling of some exciting new obstacles. The states brought some favorites to the table, with Spartan Race heating up Las Vegas, Warrior Dash in Southern California, Savage Race spinning wheels and climbing fences in Florida, and BattleFrog tearing up the beach wakes and the airwaves in Georgia.

Happy Labor Day. A quiet weekend in obstacle racing in the United States but in Europe it was another story. Both Toughest Oslo and Spartan Race European Championships took place. Stateside Spartan Race had it's first College Classic race at Cornell University.

Last Week in OCR: The Hardest OCR Ever!

Another busy weekend in the world of OCR. Many took to social media over the weekend proclaiming that one race was possibly the hardest regular season OCR ever. That race was BattleFrog at the Mud, Guts, and Glory course over the weekend. As well high praises graced the web after the Spartan Races in both Asheville and Boston.

Over the weekend there were many races around the country and beyond. But there were two races in particular which captured the attention of the diehard OCR fans. The Spartan Race in Washington State and the BattleFrog in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania had us all watching our computers Saturday morning. Obstacle racing has entered the dog days of summer as the racing season pushes on. Many of the familiar names took this last weekend off offering some new faces to reach the podium over the weekend as the sport inches closer to the world championship season this fall.

Summer is in full swing and things are heating up on the competitive racing circuit. One major competitive race dominated the OCR market over the weekend and some have dubbed it a preview of what is to come later this year when the championship circuit begins. Racers from around the world flocked to Palmerton, Pennsylvania for the Reebok Spartan Race Super on Blue Mountain.

This past weekend was another busy weekend in obstacle racing and the entire OCR industry. BattleFrog moved north up to New Jersey. Spartan Race was in both Boston and Dallas. Shale Hill celebrated Father's Day with a relay race, and Tough Mudder had participants climbing to new heights in British Columbia.
