I was always active growing up playing football and throwing for my track team. Then in my mid twenty's I fell into the trap of eating bad and becoming less and less active. One day in early 2012 I was challenged by my cousin to run with him and some of his friends at the Mid Atlantic Tough Mudder. Right around the same time I learned about Spartan Race and in July of 2012 I took the dive into OCR. Little did I know the journey I was about to begin. I finished my first ocr in Palmerton PA and I was hooked. Later that year I completed my first Tough Mudder as well, not the greatest of performances but I finished. In November of 2012 I learned about an organization called Operation Enduring Warrior a veteran founded 100% volunteer group with the mission of Honoring Empowering and Motivating our wounded veterans. I am now a community athlete with OEW and have run 2 OCR's with the team. My 2013 started by getting myself active and back to a healthier me and a goal of completing the Spartan Trifecta. My first ocr of 2013 was again Palmerton Pa, by far the most challenging sprint I have done to date. Second up was wintergreen resort in Virginia for the Spartan Super. All that can be said about wintergreen is WoW the course consisted of 2 miles downhill and 6 miles uphill some of which felt as though it would never end. My third and final round of the Trifecta took me to the beautiful Green Mountains in Vermont at Killington resort for the Beast. What an amazing and brutal course of 13.7 miles. After more than 7 hours on the course I crossed the finish line and had the most epic feeling of accomplishment I've ever felt. I did it, I completed my goal and now had the Spartan Trifecta to show for it. My OCR year wrapped up with 3 Spartan Stadium Sprints in Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, Miller Park in Milwaukee and Fenway Park in Boston. Since Ive started this love of ocr's and getting myself back on the track of being fit I have added crossfit into my workout routine 6 days a week. I can not wait for this year of OCR racing....I plan on at least a Triple Trifecta maybe a Quad, Superhero and warrior dash are on my short list for events to try this year as well.
