Looking for adventure? How about a day filled with 25 epic obstacles, a crazy party, and plenty of beer? Rugged Maniac Obstacle Race has you covered! Here's how it works: Sign up for the race and you'll run our 3-mile course where you'll climb towers of shipping containers, rocket down a 50′ water slide, bounce on trampolines, jump over fire, and more!

Before and after your run, you'll get to party with thousands of other maniacs in our day-long festival where you can ride mechanical bulls, pretend to be a kid in our adult bounce houses, and dance your butt off in the festival and enjoy lots of new games and activities. As if that wasn't awesome enough, you also get a high-quality t-shirt, an awesome medal, free professional race photos, and a beer (if of legal drinking age) with your registration!

Unlike the other guys, we don't nickel and dime you with ‘insurance' and ‘processing' fees that add $30 or more to your registration cost. You'll pay the price listed on the event page plus any tax required by the man. That's it. So what are you waiting for? Reserve your preferred start
time today!

I was super excited to run this race since 2016 Rugged Maniac was off the charts fun. We ran this during a Heat Wave 98 degrees with heat index of 103. My team and I were disappointed from what the website stated the obstacles would be and they were either not there or half an obstacles was there. The Iron curtain was not up but did have just the mud pit, they switched some obstacles and chose to to put black tube obstacles in there place which felt like a sauna inside of them. The water slide at the end did not exist nor did the bounce house obstacle or the planks with the inflatable balls/bags. There were 3 sets monkey bar type obstacles in which 2 were so high anyone under 5'2 could not even jump to reach to attempt. The trampoline obstacle in 2016 was awesome, but this year was disappointing. The warped wall was fun even though the outer covering was not as secured so it made getting your footing difficult. The obstacles have gotten harder so I don't suggest this race for beginning mud runners.
We still had fun at the end of the day and hopefully next year All Obstacles will be there again.

First time (and probably the last time) doing this race. Only 5 or 6 original and fun obstacles and the rest are either same thin repeating or running up hill and down hill in dirt and mud.
Stage performance was poor and offensive. There was a pull up contest and my group signed up together. They separate men and women and made women in my group wait over 45 minutes to compete against children. It was so offensive and disturbing. Don’t think we will go back .

So much fun!!!

May 18, 2019 by Octavia

This was my 4th OCR and hands down the best one so far. This course kicked my butt (my fault for being so out of shape), but I signed up to do it again this year. The obstacles were fun and challenging, the mud and water didn't smell, and the free beer at the end is always appreciated. My favorite obstacle was Off The Rail and I hope they bring it back again this year!

One of the Best

Apr 25, 2018 by Heather Johnson

I've probably done 10 mud runs in the last 5 or 6 years, and I have to say I think this one is my favorite. The obstacles were really fun! It was challenging, but not super hard. I liked the mix of climbing walls with inflatable obstacles and a trampoline obstacle. There were 25 fun obstacles in 3 miles, so it wasn't a ton of dusty trail running. The parking was $10 and close to event. Spectators were free, the event was well organized and had lots of fun things to do afterwards. You had to be present to get your wrist bands and they checked wave times at the start line, seems like good common sense to keep things running smooth. The medic tent was right by the finish line, which was great for scrapes and cuts. I wish they had water at the end in addition to the sport drinks, but you could buy it if you wanted. I loved the t shirt (women's cut and super soft) and medal, and you didn't get a bag full of advertising and junk to throw out. Perfect spring weather and a great group of friends didn't hurt! :)

Great

Due to inclement weather (tornadoes),if you could not race and if you requested it they transferred my registration to 2018 race. I ran this in 2016 it was my first one and loved it. Can't wait to go back and try it again!

The Refund Policy is a Lie

Oct 26, 2017 by Briana

One of Rugged Maniac's big selling points is that unlike everyone else, they offer refunds! A few days before the race, acres and acres of the deadliest wildfire in CA history broke out and continued burning throughout race day. The race was near the fires. Breathing the fire air for so long made me have cold symptoms, so I thought running in that air would be a bad idea, and requested a refund two days before the event. They denied my request because it wasn't a good enough reason. WHY would you advertise refunds as a huge selling point when you won't give refunds for gigantic, air-compromising wildfires?? So frustrating.

Pretty good

Sep 16, 2017 by Jimmy

This was my third year in a row doing the Rugged Maniac, despite saying i would never do it again after last year (that first hill is a doozy! Note on that later). I added the new VIP option to my registration which was a bit of a joke: i managed to utilize the VIP services i signed up for despite the lack of direction from the race organizers in how to. That alone would've dropped my review down to three stars if it wasn't for the fact that i think they shortened the initial hill climb by a good half. The race is still a tremendous challenge! They changed up the obstacles too, taking out one of my favorites (not a big deal). Incidentally, according to my Apple Watch, the actual distance of this "5K" was actually 3.6 miles.

Out Of Control Awesomeness

I did the Rugged Maniac before and it was so amazing!!! Tons of fun and tons of mud and it was so an experience to remember. I'd do this again and again and again.

Weston Mo 2016

Jul 28, 2016 by Brandon

The only bad part about this race was my physical shape. However, I cannot wait to improve and come back stronger and fitter. The hills were absolutely brutal and really challenge you physically and mentally. The obstacles were fun and surprisingly I made it up the warped wall. It was very well organized and you could usually hear the music wherever you were at on the course. Great experience definitely recommend.
