Course Description:
All races are run on the Shale Hill Adventure Farm Obstacle Race Training Course (ORTC) in Benson, Vermont with an option of a 10k loop (Pro/Expert) or a 5k loop (Novice/Intermediate). We have over 50 obstacles and challenges on our ""fixed-location"" course. Solid, ingenious, and professionally build obstacles over varied terrain with hills, shale, water, mud pits, barbed wire crawls, walls, cargo nets, ropes, ramps, monkey bars, log-stone bucket-sandbag-slosh pipe carries and hay bales from Hell!!
Aid Stations:
3 water stations posted through course with a water/banana/chocolate milk recovery station at the finish.
EMT available and local emergency services have been notified and are on standby.
Awards:
This is a point series race. We will have a ceremony at the completion of the fourth race. We will also give out prize baskets to the top three finishers in mens and womens divisions.
Spectators:
Spectators are FREE, Parking is FREE. We do offer the kind of course that you can walk around and check things out as long as you sign a waiver!
Parking:
PARKING IS FREE in a nice green hay meadow that is neatly mowed. Conveniently located within 100 yards of the start of the race, food and retail vendors.
Other:
Shale Hill is rapidly gaining popularity for it's state-of-the-art FIXED LOCATION Obstacle Race Training Center (ORTC at Shale Hill). Our course is expertly designed and built by the master-mind himself, Rob Butler! The obstacles are solid, huge and safe! Come to just one of our races and you'll be hooked….and, we're open year round for training, clinics and team building for clubs, schools and corporate outings.
TEAMS: Teams are encouraged and new this year, a portion of the proceeds for any team entered will go to the charity of their choice!! So, get your buddies together and race at Shale Hill for a great cause!!
AGE REQUIREMENTS: Minimum age to participate is 14 y.o. as of date of the race. Youth division is 14-18 y.o. in middle/high school only. Out of high school and 18 and up to enter in any adult division.
TIMING: We don't have timing chips yet, but every individual is timed by our reliable timing crew at the finish line.
GEAR CHECK: We do not have a formalized gear check and we take no responsibility for your personal items. Anything of value should be locked in your car. Otherwise, you are welcome to put a bag behind the registration area while you race. Minimal supervision provided.
SWIMMING: We have a Tyroleon Traverse over our pond that is about 7' deep and 70' across. Life jackets available for those who cannot swim. Or, take the penalty and go around if you are truly concerned about completing this obstacle.
POST RACE: Post race wash down station available. Port-o-potties available. No changing rooms available. Food vendor on site.
NO DOGS - PLEASE….we love dogs, we have dogs, BUT we don't want to have to tell you to keep your dogs under control or pick up their messes when we really need to be concentrating on running this spectacular race for you!!! If you MUST bring your dog, they must stay on leash at ALL-TIMES, you must keep them at your vehicle at all times and you must pick up their poop! Thank you for your consideration!!!
