Course Description:
The one you need to train for – take it for granted and it’ll bite you. It’s our last event of the year on our permanent site with our award winning, old favourites & new obstacles on 7k & 12k courses. If you’re a newbie, small group, big team, veteran or competitive obstacle racer Nuclear courses are thoughtfully designed to be challenging, fun & achievable for all ages & every fitness ability.
Expect 70+ natural & man-made obstacles on the 12k & 50+ on 7k over undulating farmland, in woodland, lakes, bogs & through our award winning #lovemud – duck-taping your trainers on isn’t a bad idea! The Deathslide & ziplines are included in both courses, but don’t expect a Nuclear course layout or obstacle combination to ever be the same.
Mild hypothermia isn’t uncommon – cuts, bruises, scrapes and sores are all abundant, but all part of the survivor experience.
Aid Stations:
At least 2 or more water stations on every course. Medic teams will roam the course in 4x4 vehicles and are also stationed at in race village. Water safety teams are in the lake zone water. Buoyancy vests available. Drink at the finish line
Spectators:
Entry to race-village £3. Spectators have access to approx 15 obstacles in and just around the race village/start/finish in designated areas
Parking:
Spectators have free parking in grass field next to race village.
Post Party:
Race village has a festival atmosphere, live music, good food options including vegetarian, bar, children's entertainment, shops, medal engraving, finish line obstacles, mc startline.
Other:
Nuclear's tickets include everything, there are no extra costs for our racers on race-day. Minimum age to race is 13yrs (accompanied by an adult) on 7k & 17yrs on 12k courses. For children 4-14yrs there's a special 1.5k or 3k obstacle loaded course with own medals & ziplines!
You don't need to be able to swim to take part at Nuclear, there are buoyancy vests which can be worn for non swimmers & water safety crew in lake water at all times. There are outdoor hot showers & male/female heated changing tents at the finish zone. We give every racer a hot drink at the finish line & free action/survivor wall photos too. Nuclear Races is the only Obstacle Race in the UK to win BEST OCR for 5 consecutive years.
Team:
There are no official teams, you can race indivdually or as a team (10 or more receive a discount). Sign up using the team option at time of booking.
