First group starts at 9:00am, with each group starting out 3 minutes after the last. 6 groups are broken into Sub 7 minute miles, 7 to 9 minute miles, etc with last group being Walkers.

Trash Dash 5K This new chip-timed series of 5k woods trail runs is managed in a partnership between Dallas ISD High School Environmental League chapters and DORBA. This first race is through the Harry Moss DORBA Trails Park and involves 10+ stations where runners do a simple exercise (e.g. 5 air squats) before running to the next station. For faster time, runners can buy out of the exercise by dropping a piece of litter off at the station instead.

Course Description:

This is a challenging woods trail run incorporating the Red, Green, Yellow (bypass), Blue and Orange trails of the Harry Moss DORBA Trails Park. First and last half miles are very hilly. There are two steep embankment creek crossings (one at 0.15 miles and the other at 2.95 miles). There is a station approximately every 1/4 mile wherein the runner must either complete a brief exercise challenge or buy out by dropping off a piece of litter the runner picked up in flight since the last station.

Aid Stations:

There will be a water station at the 1 mile mark (the north entrance to the HMDTP). This is also the only other easy exit out of the park, so assistance will be standing by there.

Awards:

Awards are given out for each age group and gender at the end of the race.

Spectators:

Spectators are free to roam the Eco Fair (projects put on by the students in collaboration with sponsors) and can view parts of the woods trail but are not allowed into the actual race venue.

Parking:

No charge for parking. Parking is provided at the venue.

This event is to raise funds for the student chapters of the Environmental League and NAF Acadamies at both the Conrad and Hillcrest High Schools. Your ticket and visible support encourages these students to continue their work in cleaning up the environment and coming up with ideas and strategies for protecting our environment in the future.
