Get ready to unleash the Beast! 10 miles, 30 obstacles, 1 goal: the mantra of the Barber Beast on the Bay, a one-of-a-kind obstacle course race that combines natural and manmade obstacles at top voted location in Pennsylvania! The seventh annual Barber Beast on the Bay is set for Saturday, September 7, 2019, at Presque Isle State Park (USA Today’s ‘Best Pennsylvania Attraction’) in Erie, PA. Participants will take on 10 miles of sand, water, and trails – it’s the nature of the Beast! Be ready to run, jump, climb and crawl across more than 30 obstacles on the shores of Lake Erie. And while you tackle your challenges during the Beast, you’ll also be helping the children and adults with autism, intellectual disabilities and behavioral health challenges at the Barber National Institute who take on their own obstacles on a daily basis, as the event supports the non-profit and its 6,200 individuals. A one-mile adapted course will also be offered for those ages 12+ with physical or intellectual disabilities at Waldameer Park and Water World, a theme park in Erie, PA next to Presque Isle State park. The 10 Mile Course and Adapted Course come together at the end as one and all participants cross the finish line together! And, yes, we love all eyes on us – spectators are encouraged to cheer participants along the Beast’s 10 Mile Course and Adapted Course. All are welcome at the finish for our post-race festivities including music, dancing, food trucks and ice cold beer!

Course Description:

Course will mostly be ran in the sand...some will be run on the road and one of the obstacles includes running in the water. 30-40 obstacles with some using the natural terrain of the park.

Spectators are welcome...we will have a wide variety of vendors and entertainment

Free. We will have shuttles to transport competitors and spectators.

Post Party:

Yes. The Romantic Era will be performing. Food will be available from Dunkin' Donuts, Famous Dave's and Qdoba.

Other:

All proceeds from this event benefit the Barber National Institute, an organization committed to ""Making dreams come true"" for children and adults with autism and developmental disabilities. Registration discounts are offered to those who want to help raise funds for this worthy cause.

Barber Beast on the Bay will offer the Maureen Riazzi Adapted Course for adults with disabilities sponsored by the Russo & Riazzi families.

The 1.5 mile loop will begin and end in the area of Beach 11 at Presque Isle State Park and will accommodate ambulatory participants as well as those in a wheelchair or power chair. Six obstacles will be spaced throughout the course and incorporate a variety of challenges that are being developed by a team of physical therapists and educators from the Barber National Institute, fitness trainers and representatives from the disabilities community. All participants are welcome to have a “course buddy” accompany them free of charge if needed.
