Course Description:
10 miles, 30 obstacles, 1 goal: Beat the Beast! Whether you are an elite OCR addict or a new to the scene first timer, the Barber Beast on the Bay offers something for every level of competitor. Tackle insane terrains – from sand to mud to lake to swamp! The Barber Beast on the Bay combines natural and manmade obstacles with one of the best locations available -- the beach! While our venue is scenic, the Beast is definitely no walk in the park.
At Presque Isle State Park (USA Today’s ‘Best Pennsylvania Attraction’) in Erie, PA. Participants will take on 10 miles of sand, water, and trails – it’s the nature of the Beast! Be ready to run, jump, climb and crawl across more than 30 obstacles on the shores of Lake Erie. A one-mile adapted course will also be offered for those ages 12+ with physical or intellectual disabilities at Waldameer, a theme park in Erie, PA next to Presque Isle State Park. The 10 Mile Course and Adapted Course come together for the final two obstacles and all participants cross the finish line together!
Aid Stations:
Over the course of ten miles, there are 6 hydration stations and 2 nutrition stations.
Prizes:
Fundraise to get a free Barber Beast on the Bay registration and help a great cause! Sign up to fundraise for the Barber National Institute when you register for the 2020 Barber Beast on the Bay.
Spectators:
Free! Gather up your friends and family in the trusty van to come cheer you and the team on! It is free to come, park, take the shuttle, and party! We offer a shuttle for participants and spectators down and back from Waldameer to Beach 11 with many stops along the way. If your cheer squad wants an opportunity to earn money for their hard earned signs and well- rehearsed chants, look into getting them involved as a Cheer Zone.
Parking:
Parking is FREE. Both participants and spectators are welcome to park at Waldameer’s Water World parking lot off of Peninsula Drive. Parking is always free! What’s better than that? How about a free shuttle to the start line?! We encourage all participants to park at Waldameer, check in, utilize the bag drop (there is no place to store your goods at the start), and shuttle out with the crew to the start. The shuttle offers multiple stops on the way there and back for spectators to stop at various obstacles along the course to cheer.
Post Party:
You’ve crossed the line, received your kick’n medal, and are now set for the post- race festivities! Grab some grub, snap a selfie with the Beast and dance the day away!
Team:
Round up the crew to beat the Beast as a team! During registration, you can either start a team or join one. Contact the gang to get it together. You can register at separate times or all at once and get it all set. You pick!
