Race Start Time:

9:30 a.m. starts the race. Heats are every five minutes. There will be a special heat for the racers who will be timed. Check the registration page for details.

MuddyUp 5k Race Boys & Girls Club of Greenwich is proud to host the 2nd annual Muddy Up 5k Adventure Race & Family Fun Walk on Sunday, September 29, 2013 at 8:30 a.m. This exciting event is for adults, teens, and families who enjoy a competitive adventure run or walk through wooded trails with fun obstacles and plenty of mud, and who are enthusiastic about supporting the Club's essential outdoor adventure programs for KIDS 6-18.

The Muddy Up 5k Adventure Race & Family Fun Walk will be held at Camp Simmons, the Club's 77 acre wooded property on Lake Avenue in Greenwich. Camp Simmons complements our 52,000 square foot Clubhouse at Horseneck Lane, which includes a climbing wall, zipline and archery range. Kids are able to learn skills at the Clubhouse, and then put them into action in the outdoor setting at Camp Simmons. Each dollar generated by this year's Muddy Up 5k will go towards funding these valuable programs.

Outdoor education teaches children life-long skills that build self-confidence and character, instill a sense of adventure and wanderlust, promote a healthy lifestyle, and develop environmental stewardship...all while they are having fun!

There are prizes for the 1st place adult female/male winners! There will be awards given for muddiest kid/adult, most creative costume kid/adult, best team spirit and more!

The minimum registration fee for each participant is $30, but the Club asks that you set a goal of raising $500 to ensure we reach our target. We guarantee you will have an exciting, fun filled, and rewarding morning, knowing that your muddy adventure will have a large and lasting impact on deserving children.

Cost & Pricing:

There is a $30 entry fee for all runners / walkers. We encourage all runners / walkers to attempt to raise a minimum of $500 to help us achieve our goal of $50,000 for outdoor education programs for kids. We hope that runners / walkers will obtain pledges from family, friends and colleagues; we also encourage ""team"" participation.

What You Get / What's Included:

All runners / walkers will receive a special / unique ""finishing medal"" as a congratulatory thank you for participating and helping the children of Boys & Girls Club of Greenwich.

Course Description:

We designed the course and 13 obstacles with a combination of fun, adventure and safety in mind. The trails are wooded, with some slight hills. You will scramble over some rock croppings, large tree stumps, and traverse several water / mud creek areas. Several of the more adventurous and challenging obstacles have a ""bypass"" option giving you an opportunity to minimize how wet and muddy you get. Safety staff will be at each obstacle to assist all runners / walkers.

Aid Stations:

We will have the GEMS medical team present at all times for your safety. And there will be plenty of food and refreshments.

Spectators:

Spectators are free, and there is a designated view area for them.

Parking:

There will be parking on the premises, and traffic directors to off site parking as well. We recommend car pooling.

Other:

This 2nd annual Muddy Up event is a fundraiser for the Boys & Girls Club of Greenwich, with a goal of $50,000. The money we raise will support our Outdoor Adventure programs. This event also encourages an active lifestyle, fosters family fun, and also profiles the beautiful 77-acre Camp Simmons property where many of our Outdoor Adventure programs take place.

Team:

We welcome people to race/run as individuals or as a team. Registering is the same for both options.
