Organizer:Mighty Deerstalker Join us for The Mighty Deerstalker, Scotland’s Original Obstacle Race. Legend tells of a cult running event deep in the Scottish Borders whose distance is a closely guarded secret, only beknownst to the Laird, his Ghillies and anyone with a GPS watch. This is probably the hardest off-road-Tweed-clad-pipe-lit-plus-four-and-headtorch-wearing run that exists. We send you across rivers, through forests and over a mountain or 2 in the pitch dark of a chilly March night. Many choose to ‘Stalk in their finest Tweeds of course, pipe at the ready. Choose to go Half ‘Stalker or for those who have the true minerals, take on the Full ‘Stalker. New for 2016, you can even start with the intention to go Full and bail out on to the Half if you crumble. This isn’t a fun run, but it is extremely fun – read some of the event reviews here. Once the race is over, the Mighty Beerstalker Party takes over in a huge warm tent; with grub, ales, bands and the trademark crowdsurfing ‘til late into the night. Party access is included with every race entry. PLUS there’s our amazing camp-site under the stars. NEW for 2016 – get a free pint and a bacon roll the morning after the night before when you sign up for camping. Don your ‘Stalker. Slàinte

With 3 distances available to choose from, take on the Half ‘Stalker to get a taste of what’s on offer, the Full ‘Stalker for a proper helping of brutal mountain action or for those who need to push themselves beyond their limits we’ve got the leg destroying Double ‘Stalker. If night running isn’t your bag we also have the new Day ‘Stalker which offers a 4pm daylight start so you can maximise your time in the Beerstalker party tent.
There is a water station on the course, the Half Stalker passes it once and the Full Stalker passes it twice. Double Stalkers get an addition halfway pit stop with water, snacks and hot tea.
Parking for car-sized vehicles will be in a field that is a short walk along a small public road to the event village. Please be vigilant when walking on the road. The event car park operates as a one way system in order that cars are parked facing downhill and exit at the bottom of the field. Large vehicles, such as camper vans will not be admitted into the event car park due to the riverside exit not being suitable for large vehicles. The closest place for oversize vehicles to park is the Forestry Commission’s Innerleithen Trails Carpark which is between Innerleithen and Traquair House and will have Forestry Commission fees. The car park is managed until midnight on the Saturday night. Please car share where possible as this helps ease congestion, is easier on the parking field surface, saves you money and helps the environment. Advance tickets are £10.
Once the run is over, it’s time for the infamous Mighty Beerstalker Afterparty in our huge heated tent; with our incredible gastropub style food, fully stocked bar including wine, ale, beer, prosecco and our very popular Yorkshire gin bar giving you the fuel you need to partake in some obligatory crowd surfing. Party access is included with every run entry and you can roll out of the bar straight into our amazing camp-site under the stars. For those who fancy a touch of luxury you can purchase one of our glamping packages that include shower access.
While the car parking field is very good, March Scottish weather is always a concern so drivers should come in a suitable vehicle for parking off road and know where their towing eye is stored and how and where to fit it, so that your vehicle can be properly equipped should our team need to assist.
Showers have not been available at a Deerstalker for the past 10 years due to space and infrastructure restrictions. This year we will have showers included in all our Walled Garden tent packages.
You need to be at least 16 years old on the day of the run. Everyone aged 16 or 17 must provide parental consent for their participation, which must be brought to the registration.
Team registration is available!
