Race Start Time:

7:30am: Volunteer check-in
8:30am: Gritty Chix check-in and late registration open
9:30am: Volunteer check-in
11am: First Gritty Chix wave starts (recommended for competitive participants)
2:30pm: Final Gritty Chix wave starts
Plan to arrive 1.5 hours before your scheduled start time to allow plenty of time for shuttling, check-in, waivers, bibs, t-shirt pick-up, bag check, restroom, etc.
Select your start time when you register. 11:00 wave is recommended for competitive participants. 100 Gritty Chix per 30-minute waves, starting at 11am and the final wave at 2:30pm.

Gritty Chix Mud Run The 2nd Annual Gritty Chix Mud Run at ACE Adventure Resort is coming back this summer to a mud puddle, or a dozen or so, near you!
Last year this fun run event helped raise money for The Relay for Life and First Descents, two awesome organizations. This year we can't wait to help by rolling in some more WV mud!!!
This 5k route will follow some of the wettest and muddiest trails on our property.
Get ready to crawl under, over, and through some muddy obstacles. If you took part in the first Gritty Chix get ready because we are turning it up a notch!

Course Description:

Woodland trails are well marked and well traveled on uneven rocky terrain and sometimes cross pavement, and sometimes small hills. Mud obstacles include scaling walls, through tubes, under logs, and mud pits.
Walk, sprint, skip, jog, or dance through trails, over walls, through tubes, and mud pits with names like Commando Crawl, Over-Under Logs, Slickey Slide, and more! Wear anything you feel comfortable in. Anything. A bikini, a costume, overalls, a prom dress, whatever. But it will get dirty!

Aid Stations:

Water stations and first aid are available along the trails and at the finish line.

Prizes:

ACE Adventure Resort gift certificate prizes are awarded before the run starts. Prizes are awarded to: Most Creative Team Name, Best Costume, Furthest Traveled. *ACE Adventure Resort gift certificate prizes are announced at the starting line and posted in the Lost Paddle. Pick up prizes in the Lost Paddle Lounge!

Spectators:

Spectators Enter for Free and may watch from designated areas at the mud course. Bring your family and friends and their cameras to cheer for you at your Gritty best. Be sure to show your appreciation for their support after the race with a heartfelt, mud covered hug! (No pets)

Parking:

Parking is Free! Parking attendants direct parking on event day. A shuttle service is provided back and forth all day, between the parking and check-in areas. Carpooling is recommended.

Post Party:

The fun doesn’t end at the finish line – ACE is an Outdoor Adventure Resort! Stick around for free live entertainment at the Lost Paddle Lounge beginning at 8pm. Check out Package Options when you register, for great ways to spend your time making memories, like a Lake Pass for more awesome fun or to kick back on the beach, and refuel at the Lost Paddle, Woody’s, and/or the Huge Dinner Buffet, or slip away to relax or celebrate in a private cabin with a hot tub!
Upon registration, add-on water park passes, rafting, zip lines, paintball, rappelling, rafting, stand up paddle boarding, camping and dining when you register. Prices are per person.

Other:

Your participation in Gritty Chix helps support southern West Virginia’s Women’s Resource Center providing temporary shelter, counseling, advocacy and supportive services for victims, survivors, and witnesses of domestic and sexual violence, and First Descents providing free outdoor adventures to young adult cancer fighters and survivors.
Wear a solid pair of running shoes, and consider bringing a towel, a bag for wet clothes, a change of clothes, and waterproof sunscreen. Shower houses and changing rooms are available.
