Course Description:
First 1.5 miles of 5K is very hilly on trails, then levels out through campgrounds. Topped off with a massive hill about half mile from the finish that is optional for open waves, required for competitive. The 1 Mile course is kid friendly but challenging with one good sized climb in the middle and a short but steep hill near the end.
Aid Stations:
Water / Aid Stations will be located at the approximate 1 and 2 Mile points of the 5K and volunteers will be stationed at every obstacle throughout.
Local EMTs will be on site if needed.
Free water, bananas, and cookies will be available to all participants at the finish line.
Awards:
Medals for Top 10 Male and Female in the Competitive Wave.
Spectators:
Spectators are free and welcomed. We can point you to the best and most accessible viewing areas and course maps will be available.
Parking:
Parking and admission to the park is free and included with registration. Parking close to check in is limited so please carpool or plan enough time for a short walk.
Other:
Not a ""mud run"", no mud pits or cold April hose showers!
Family friendly event with a 1 Mile Kid's course recommended for ages 6-12, a 5K Competitive Wave for the hardcore, and 5K Open Waves for the runner or hiker looking to go at their own pace. All obstacles are optional for Open Waves and there is even a detour provided for the 2 biggest hills on the 5K course.
Non Profit with all proceeds supporting the Pottawattamie County Trails Association. Come out and enjoy a beautiful park and support local trails!
