Course Description:
A 5km or 10km obstacle course race through the hills of King Edward Park and along the soft sands of Newcastle Beach.
More than twenty obstacles including cargo nets, rope climbs, commando crawls, walls, balance beams, “monkey bars” and a log carry.
Aid Stations:
Medical personnel will be available at the start, finish and on the course
Prizes:
Trophies will be awarded to first place male and female entrants, as well as first male, female and mixed team.
A perpetual 000 Shield and Clubbie Cup will be awarded.
Spectators:
Spectators will be able to watch the ‘beach’ action up close from the promenade between the Ocean Baths and South Newcastle Skate Park.
King Edward Park is closed to vehicular traffic and will allow spectators close proximity to watch the event.
Spectators are welcome to buy food and drinks from the surf club as well as party to the live music.
Parking:
Free parking on Watt St, King St, North of Moroney Ave and in Newcastle Ocean baths car park.
Post Party:
Bar opens at midday. Food and refreshments available all day
Other:
Don’t panic, if you are unable to complete or unwilling to attempt an obstacle, you can take a one minute time penalty and skip it.
Team:
Teams are any group of 3 to 10 entrants who race in the same start wave and register as a team. All teams race 5km. Your time is the average of the team.
