Distance & Course Length:
Organizer:Toughest Toughest is an event for those who seek the ultimate challenge. About 8 km filled with 30-50 obstacles such as Monkey Bars, Mud, Water and more....
6-8 km trail running - Every course is designed differently due to variations in the local terrain. We choose locations with great care and always try to give you variation and the elements of water, sand, mud & terrain. Besides that, we also try to find spots that are easy to reach both for runners and audience. The most spectacular obstacles are placed in regards to the spectators!
40+ obstacles - The mere intensity of a Toughest race is in itself a beauty! Apart from other races, we don’t want to be a running course with a few obstacles but a true obstacle course were you always see the next obstacle ahead. We seek to find variantion in terms of tougheness, strength and speed needed for the obstacles. Some might be technical and some are easy.
Individual & Team Entries - You can enter the race representing no other but yourself, or you can register as a team. At Toughest you always have to register individually. If you want to participate in a team, you just enter your teams name under team name in the register form. There are no extra cost for participating in a team. As a team, it’s your average time within the team that counts. The team with lowest average time wins. There are a few different classes for team to participate in.
Professional Race or for-fun-Challenge - For some Toughest is a race – meaning you compete to win against others. For some it is a challenge were you compete against yourself. Some do it for fun such as bachelor/bachelorette parties, kick-offs and those tend to keep pushing themselfs all through the after party as well!
Penalty Rounds - The penalty rounds make it challenging both for beginners and pros. For many it is a race where competition and time is important but for others it is about challenging yourself beyond the average running competition. Thanks to the penalty round, system we can see some of the toughest athletes take on the same course as bachelor teams and corporate team building events. This is possible since the toughest obstacles have alternative penalty rounds for those who dont make it either by failing or avoiding the obstacle. The penalty is typically additional running that will slow you down but still let you finish the race.

The race is 2 km and includes 20 obstacles. Toughest standard obstacles are arranged to be fun and challenging for children and adults.
7-13 year olds together with one or more adults over 18 years. There has to be at least one adult and one child in every registration.
There will be water obstacles, but these are voluntary. If you choose not to do these obstacles, there is another way.
! If you can’t do it by yourself, you can do it together with your teammates. Our courses are designed so that everyone can make it. A lot of obstacles have alternative ways that are easier, therefore it is up to you to set the bar depending on your conditions.
Water and other beverages will be available at the finish line and once during the course.
Food will be sold at the event area.
Toilets will be available on the event area.
There will also be food & beverage for sale for the audience. Coffee will be sold via Fogarolli mobile coffee trucks.
The full Toughest course is designed for grown-ups (18+) but what about those tough kids out there? Well at some of our races we arrange kids courses that challenges 3-12 year olds in approxemately 200 m courses with 10+ obstacles. It is fun, challenging and leaves both kids and partens with a sense of pride and joy. Of course all participants get diplomas and the whole event races money for charity (Barncancerfonden).
We believe that attitude and mental strength is more important than physical peak performance. You can not place yourself in the top tier unless you are absolutely in top shape both in terms of strength, speed and endurance. However, this is mainly a personal challenge and you can get around the track on your own terms. When you finish it, you will surely be among the toughest you know.
No, you must not be able to swim. The race will go through water, both in the lake and the sea, but never deeper than your waistline.
Toughest doesn’t think there is any point of having obstacles created to distribute physical pain through electric shocks. You will feel pain and fatigue anyway. Naturally. We promise.
The penalty rounds make it challenging both for beginners and pros. For many it is a race where competition and time is important but for others it is about challenging yourself beyond the average running competition.
