Course Description:

#1 THE WALL- This bright orange wall can be seen from the highway entrance. Runners will be eyeing this challenge as they run up the 300 yard hill. 6 feet tall and 16 feet wide. Random toe holds mounted on front.
#2 THE MATRIX- Just as the runners get their momentum from the wall they round the corner behind the 4H Horse and Pony Arena into a bottleneck. Scattered in the bottle neck are multiple 4 feet high wooden hurdles.
#3 TIRED MOUNTAIN- Runners gain speed as they make their way across the pasture behind the tractor pull field. 4 sections of tires lying flat with 10 foot open spaces between each section. Feels like football practice drills on steroids. Just when section 4 is finished, a huge pile of tires looms up. Runners must climb up and over.
THE THUNDER DOME- Nothing prepares the runners for the diversity of the thunder dome. Entering the east end of the tractor-pull field
#4 THE MUDSLIDE comes first as hills of slick mud challenge footing and balance.
#5 THE CRAWL comes next, on your face crawling under strands of barbed wire, in mud and water for 20 feet.
#6 BURNING HOUSE greets the runners as they get back to their feet. A 16 foot house with smoke pouring out is the target. Runners fill their bucket with water from the horse trough and carry it to the burning house, greeted by actual firefighters spraying with fire hoses. Rinse off if you can. Return the empty bucket and run into
#7 THE EARTHQUAKE. A virtual field of unstable ground, created with pallets on teeters.
#8 THE FLOOD Runners wade into mud and water to get to the other side and grab the bucket, fill it with sand, carry it to the levee and return to dump it out and finally back through the mud and water
#9 TUNNEL RATS Runners are down on hands and knees, into the long dark tunnels, 20+ feet and a brief spot of light and back into another tunnel
#10 FIELD OF SCREAMS exiting the thunder dome, runners begin the long run across the campground fields, into a swamp and wooded area and on westward into the long stretch of open field, leading to the front section of the fairgrounds.
#11 SEARCH AND RESCUE runners enter the debris field of a major disaster. Housed inside the 4H business expo building, emergency vehicles with flashing lights, sirens, strobes, piles of maze like debris presents the runner with a unique challenge to stay oriented and make their way out the other end of the building.
RE-ENTER THE THUNDER DOME !!!!
#12 ROPE COURSE upper body strength is the name of the game. Monkey Bars Hand over hand on ropes holding their body off the ground to reach the other side. A short burst of open running to reach the SWING SWAMP, runners grab a rope and try to swing across a mud pit.
Runners return to #4, #5 ,#6 and #7 before running to the FINISH LINE
