WHAT IS CMC?
Civilian Military Combine (CMC) is the ultimate obstacle course racing and fitness event that’s specifically designed to put endurance and strength athletes on equal footing! The CMC course is unlike any other mud run, obstacle race, or adventure race available to the public.
Founded in 2011, it is the ONLY obstacle course race on the planet featuring The PIT™, a 5 minute WOD style, nonstop, cross-training format guaranteed to get your heart pumping and your endorphins flowing. Your family, friends and fellow racers will cheer you on as you put your strength and stamina to the test. The atmosphere is electrifying! Try it once and you’ll be hooked! Next up, tackle 25 + military grade obstacles over a course of 4-5 miles.
This unique structure of the strength element: The PIT™ + the endurance element: The Course, is what separates CMC from all other races and competitions. In addition, CMC has been carefully created, refined and reviewed by the top strength and conditioning coaches from the CrossFit community, United States Armed Forces and The Obstacle Course Racing (OCR) World Championship Race Director.
YOU Control Your Race
Rest assured, there’s no intimidation here! CMC is made for all fitness levels and ages offering competitors varying degrees of course difficulty so YOU control your race.
Not ready to take on The PIT™ just yet? No worries, go for the “race only” option and tackle The PIT™ next time around.

As a past competitor in nearly all of the major obstacle races out there, I have to applaud the CMC for an extremely challenging event that was as much fun as it was difficult.
The setting was at a ski resort. Parking was free and access was easy. Registration was a little slow and heats started a few minutes late. Those were really my only complaints.
The pit was a unique feature providing a test of strength and stamina that left me still catching my breath 3 minutes later when the race portion started.
The race itself was upwards of 5 miles, going up and down the mountain, utilizing the natural terrain as well as some of the features of the water park at the base (the race started you off walking thru a wave pool and rope climbing out).
The obstacles were plentiful, and some of the most challenging I've faced. This was complemented by the difficulty of the course layout, which took you through streams, thick woods and, at one point, about a quarter mile of steep mountain spring.
All in all, a very good event that I would do again. Not sure about the complaints from unhappy participant. I guess location plays a part, but the complaints from Unhappy Participant about the obstacles, the volunteers, the food and water and judges are completely out of left field.
Unhappy Participant
The negative points out weight the positive ones in this race event. Overall I would not do it again unless I got it for free through living-social.com deal.
Cons:
1- The volunteers were nowhere to be found on run portion of the course.
2- The obstacles were lame, very cheap mostly consisting of 4' aluminum walls to jump over.
3- They did setup the finish for people to easily be seen crossing the line.
4- The course map did not at all match what was posted for the race (it was much more lame).
5- Charged $10 for parking that was a 15 min bus ride away!
6- Not allowed to bring any food OR more than ONE water bottle into the event (WTF)!!!!
7- Charged $5 for checking a bag
8- Judges were not all using the same standards!!
Pros:
I don't remember any.
