There was water

May 08, 2014 by Kimberly case

YES MAYBE STATION ONE WAS OUT, BUT STATION 3 HAD WATER.. I HAVE BEEN TO OTHER RUNS WHERE THERE IS ONLY ONE STAION BUT THIS ONE HAD 3 AND SOME PEOPLE WOULD DRING LIKE 5 CUPS AT EACH STATION. I loved the Zombie Bolt yes it was there 1st MUD RUN AND HAD A FEW HICCUPS, but it was the BEST ONE I HAVE EVER DONE. You all are being way to critical. PLUS THE FOOD VENDOR HAD TONS OF DRINKS IF YOU REALLY WANTED ONE. THEY HAD TONS OF FREE WATER AND BANANAS AND SPECTATATORS WERE TAKING IT SHAME ON THEM..THE COURSE WAS AMAZING AND I WILL BE BACK. HAD A GREAT TIME AND BRINGING MORE NEXT RACE...

On the Right Track

May 07, 2014 by 1st Timer

WATER!! The first water table was completely unmanned and out by time many went through on the 3rd wave. When arriving at the 2nd table there were kids using the water out of the cooler to wash their hands. The 3rd water table was PERFECT, plenty of help and very generous with the water. There were NO changing tents, just PVC boxes. It was disappointing to hear one of the top female runners (with her NICE trophy) telling others how there were some obstacles she didn't do, because she didn't want to. How is that a winner? A solution would be having someone marking each runners body with a marker to show they completed ALL obstacles to obtain that prize, if your goal is to earn a trophy. The lack of ears medals. Pre registration at OK runner was GREAT, super nice people!! The bananas were a nice treat. The Luther FD did a super job at cleaning up our mess. The overall feel was FUN, thank you.

Had a great time with my family. Wanted to give 5 stars, but there were a couple of issues. 1) No water left on the course for those running in the later waves. 2) Ran out of medals. On a side note, as a zombie, there were some runners (not a ton, but a few) who were hiding their flags and even some who were physically fending off attempts to grab at them. This happened to me, but it truly bothered me when it happened to my 8 year old daughter, twice. Please make certain to announce the rules regarding flags and proper etiquette to all the runners before the run, perhaps even at the beginning of every wave. Some of us hurt our fingers trying to grab flags that were tied or double looped on runner's belts. All that being said we will definitely be there for the run in October. We had a blast. I only mention the negative, because you asked for comments. It is still a great event, and I can't wait for the next one!

Great time

May 06, 2014 by Angela Ross

We pre registered so we did not have to do it there. the line for day of registration was long but I don't think you can blame the organizers for that. All of the organizers we dealt with, at early bird pickup and flag pickup were nothing but polite and helpful. We had no issues with over zealous zombies. Plenty of mud as opposed to mud runs we had done in the past. They had a table full of water and banannas free at the start so we carried bottles of water with us. The water stations could have been manned and better stocked but that is our only complaint if you can call it that. The obstacles were fun and challenging without being overly so. Yes they ran out of medals but I have been at other events where this happened or only winners get them. Overall I thought this to be a terrific fun experience that I would gladly do again.

Zombie Bolt at DEAD WOODS

May 06, 2014 by DEAD WOODS haunted forest

I feel DEAD WOODS haunted forest for only being in business less then two years is getting excellent name for itself,
Their course is a multi purpose event course, cross country races, fun runs, mud runs and other special events.
With the perfect course layout and location.

Coould have been great, but like the water was luke warm.

May 06, 2014 by Zombie1

Really wish I could give this event 5 stars..... The location, low cost and trails get 5 stars.... that is where the high ratings stop. I I was going to be a runner, but changed to a zombie due to the events request for more zombies. I finished the 5K course and went back as a zombie bolter to try to increase the experience for the runners. So I paid $35 buck for a rude and unprepared check in person, no cold water (it was all hot in the dixie cups), no enforcers on the course to be sure zombies & runners were behaving. This is supposed to be a fun experience for all and although 95% of the people were great, there were those 5%that were total jerks. I got a handful of sewage smelling/tasing mud intentionally thrown in my mouth by a runner!!! REALLY?? There was NO ONE on the course to report this infraction to! Several runners were wrapping their flags twice around their belt or hiding it all together. This resulted in several of the zombies I spoke with getting injured fingers because the flags did not easily break loose. If you aren't good enough to play by the rules, don't run and please don't cheat... it may seem like a great way to "survive" but people got injured. As others stated, I did NOT get my "ear" medallion and have had no response about the complaint. The owner did a great job prepping the property but the event coordinator fell short! Having the truck and cool cars was neat, those people were very friendly and allowed fun photo ops, makeup people were super nice and I DID tip them which I noticed was not happening much by other zombies. I really hope they do a better job next time... very disappointed.
