The racecation is a great planning method when trying to fit in as many races/trips as possible into your schedule. It’s also especially handy if you are a racer at heart, but perhaps your significant other or family members are not because the racecation allows you to compromise and share that precious weekend time.
On Wednesday, November 8th, 2017, I attended the Get Fit Toledo: Spartan Community Workout in Toledo, Ohio. It was here that Spartan Race CEO and founder Joe De Sena challenged over 70 men and women to abandon their Wednesday night routine of watching reruns on their couch, and to instead, come together, get sweaty and "Spartan Up"!
Clouds loom over the start line and there is a crisp, autumn chill in the air. Your hands are shaking, heart pounding with anticipation. You stand side by side with comrades from Canada, Puerto Rico, Germany, and beyond, awaiting the signal to begin your trek on the mountain. Dewayne Montgomery, better known as Coach Pain, approaches the start line delivering an intense, motivational message; a challenge to “Conduct Your Business” on the course. And just like that, you’re off! You are a world championship competitor and you are about to make history.
