Organizer:Stronghold Challenge We define a Stronghold as: intense adversity, fortress of opposition, obstacle to progress. The Stronghold Challenge is an invitation to overcome 24 obstacles designed to test your mind, body and spirit. This 5K journey will push the limits of your physical and mental stamina. It will also strengthen your spiritual commitment to overcome the challenges that we all face in life. This is God’s will for us. He says in 2 Corinthians 10:4; the weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. Accept the Challenge to strengthen your Mind, Body and your Spirit.

- Stronghold Challenge T-shirt
This is a 5k course with 25 obstacles total. The terrain is moderately hilly.
There will be police, fire, and EMS workers on site for the entire race. There is also a water station at the midway point on the course.
No awards, this is about personal bests.
Spectators are free and we will have a large area to view the mid-point and finish line obstacles. There is no room along the course for spectators.
Parking is free and will be located at Catawba Valley Community College. Free shuttle busses will take you from parking to the race area.
We will have music and food after the event. The food will be provided by food vendors.
We recommend that you avoid loose or flowing clothing that may be stepped on or may snag on an obstacle. Remember, that the more clothing you wear the heavier and hotter it will become as the mud collects on it and the temperature rises. Please remember to empty your pockets of wallets, cell phones and anything that may get lost in the pits or injure another runner.
Mud runners in the competitive races do not need to run together, runners in the untimed and kids race are encouraged to stay together and cross the finish line as a team, however, it is not mandatory.
We will have semi-private changing tents available to get out of those wet muddy clothes. Plastic trash bags come in handy to toss your muddy clothes in.
We will have some nice COLD water from a garden hose on site for rinsing.
We will provide a bag check tag in your race packet. We will have a secure location at the race site to keep your belongings while you race. We will not store bags for spectators.
It is our goal to ensure that none of the obstacles require a high level of strength or agility to complete. If you feel you may not be able to navigate through an obstacle you will need to enter one of the non-competitive heats where you may simply go around the obstacle.
Cameras, video recorders are a must for this race. Folding chairs and blankets will make your stay at the Mud Run more enjoyable. Sunscreen and shade umbrellas may come in handy since there is very little shade. The gear check area will be located onsite for race participants only.
While we hope that you will visit our food and drink vendors, we want you to stay hydrated and well fed.
Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Otherwise, we expect the parents to use their discretion as to whether their children can participate or not.
The FUN RUN times are not recorded, although there will be a timing clock at the finish line.
The time limit for all heats is two hours. Walkers are welcome.
No, we will not provide any child care. We will have a play area for kids 10 and under where parents may supervise their children.
