Indee Zombie Run Looking to change up your average 5K race? Test your survival skills through 3.1 miles of obstacles at the Buchanan County Fairgrounds in Independence, IA. Not enough of a challenge? We are letting loose some of the hungriest and wildest zombies this side of the Mississippi.

Waiting at the end of the 5K Zombie Run, whether infected or not, is an after party of epic proportions. Celebrate your survival or imminent zombie transformation with Iowa bred food, music, and of course, beer.

Course Description:

Runners – are you ready for a challenge? This is not your ordinary 5K! You can expect the following obstacles as you race to the finish line of this timed event:

• Climbing
• Crawling
• Getting wet
• Getting dirty
• And of course, being chased by brain hungry zombies!

• Scaring runners/humans
• Infecting runners by nabbing their flags
• Stumbling
• Walking
• Creeping
• Getting dirty – but hey! That’s what you love!

Aid Stations:

Area Ambulance Services will be onsite during the event. Water will be provided at the finish line along with restrooms and a rinse off station.

Runner Awards - awards are based on fastest times and only given to runners who have not been ""infected"" on the course. They must have at least one ""life"" flag when they cross the finish line.

Prizes:

Cash prizes will be awarded to the Best Female and Best Male Zombies. Runner award winners will receive medals.

Spectators:

Watch your friends outrun zombies or maybe they will be eating brains! Designated spectator areas will be set up for your viewing enjoyment. The award ceremony will take place at approximately 6:00pm on the sound stage during the After Party. Be sure to stick around after the run to help vote for your favorite zombie and see who the fastest humans were!

Parking:

Parking is free and surrounds the Buchanan County Fair Grounds. We would recommend carpooling if possible.

Post Party:

Join us for an after party of apocalyptic proportions!

Award ceremony @ approximately 6:00pm for Runners/Zombies (voting from the crowd encouraged!)

Other:

The Indee Zombie Run offers a fun and challenging 5k experience. Runners will be completing obstacles along the course as well as dodging zombies trying to capture their ""life"" flags. Each runner begins the course with 2 ""life"" flags and their goal is to make it all the way to the finish line with at least 1 ""life"" left.
Proceeds from the event benefit the Buchanan County Fair Grounds and the Independence Area Chamber of Commerce to support various community events both entities put on every year as well as some of their other initiatives.
The race is open to anyone 14 years or older. There will be restrooms on site as well as a rinse off station. Participants can also store their gear in the 4-H Building while they compete.

Team:

We do not have a team option when registering, but we encourage you to run in a pack as a survival strategy!
