Race Start Time:

Competitive Individual Mud Run starts at 8:00 am and teams run at 8:10 am
Non-Competitive waves start at 8:30 am with the last wave at 11:30 am in 15-minute intervals
There are no set wave times for the Nitty Gritty. Just show up any time between 9:30 am and 12:00 pm

Gretna Gritty This event is a 5k mud run with 15 obstacles set in the beautiful rugged terrain of Gretna Glen. Participants can expect to encounter mud, water, fire, rocks, earth, and climbs that excite the mud runner in us all! Our 5k Walk-A-Thon is at 10:00 in between the competitive and non competitive heats - where walkers can walk beside the Gritty and check out the fun. NEW this year, is a kids run - 'the Nitty Gritty'which gets kids (5-11 years old) in on the action with a 1 mile fun run and leaves them with a sweet headband to celebrate their accomplishment. All runners, and walkers can expect lunch or breakfast (depending on your time of run), a t-shirt, and memories to last a lifetime.

Our Goal:
Have an AMAZING event with the BEST course around & Raise $75,000 for Gretna Glen's 'Pathways to the Future' finance initiative. All proceeds for this event, excluding the costs of participation, will go directly toward Gretna Glen Camp & Retreat Center's 'Pathway to the Future' Initiative. We seek to cast off our burden of debt so that camp can continue free of financial struggle, transforming lives for many years to come. Our goal this year is to have at least 600 runners and raise more than $75,000! With your help, we can make this come true.

Course Description:

The Gretna Gritty is Gretna Glen Camp & Retreat Center's 8th annual 5k mud run with 20+ obstacles set in the beautiful, rugged terrain of the Mt. Gretna area. In our 8th running of this awesome event, participants can expect to encounter challenges of balance, brawn, bravery, buffoonery and more! With hilly terrain, and challenges new and old - the Gritty has something for everyone.
Expect a rugged 5k of Mud, Fire, Tires, Nets, Ice and more! The course is 20+ obstacles set in the beautiful, rugged terrain of the Mt. Gretna area, so you can expect challenges old and new that will test your grit.
Competitive runners will have to complete obstacles or do burpees to make up for missed obstacles.
On average it will take you one hour to complete the race and you can bring your friends and family to have fun for a worthy cause.
The kids are not left behind either; Ages 5-11 will have a 1.3 miles of fun and mud that they'll remember for the rest of their lives!

Aid Stations:

First aid/hydration stations along the trail.

Awards:

Awards for top 3 overall males, and females, top 3 Teams, as well as have recognition for age bracket winners (online and posted at event) in the competitive wave
Teams that win 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place will not qualify for individual winnings

Team:

For the competitive wave team size for this race is 4 people. No more, no less, but you are welcome to sign up as two separate teams
Team sizes for the non-competitive run are unlimited, so you can invite your friends, family, youth group, and co-workers to join you on the fun!

Kids Race:

The Nitty Gritty Kids Run is set to be a blast for the little ones so make sure you tag them along
For Kids (ages 5-11) and they'll enjoy 1.3 miles of fun and mud that they'll remember for the rest of their lives!
Every child who runs the Nitty Gritty will receive a Gretna Gritty T-shirt, lunch, caked on mud, and smiles for the whole ride home!
