People complained that maybe the water should of been the small 8 oz bottles, instead of the regular 16.9 oz because they felt bad for wasting water if they didn’t bottle all the water.

Disappointed - Portland OR 2019

Sep 11, 2019 by MJ

This Muddy Princess was for Portland OR 9/8/19 (Not sure why it's not listed). I wasn't impressed with this mud run.
Bad Service-To start it off my wrist band was put on too tight so I went back to ask if I could get it replaced. The lady that put it on was busy so I just went to another person thinking it was no big deal. I went to another lady and simply ask, "Can I replace this wrist band it's too tight?" And it clearly was too tight. She replied offensively and almost angry, " Absolutely not! You need it to start your race and if you take if off you won't be able to get a goody bag!" WTF?! Did she think I was trying to scam the race? Kind of impossible if she was only going to replace the wrist band that I already had on and KEEP the old one. So I just went to the lady that originally put on my wrist band and she had no problems replacing it. (Thank you to her)
Water stations- Like another post mentions, water is full water bottles and are wasted. The water stations were poorly located. One water station was before an obstacle (usually are so you weren't able to take the bottles with you) and before a MAJOR hill to hike. There was no water for 3 more obstacles! We were dying of thrust. Oh yeah, and there was no water station at the finish line!
Pictures- Out of 18 obstacles only 4 had someone taking pictures. Out of the entire race I had 2 pictures taken. That's it, not even my shoe showed up in a photo bomb, or even a unflattering butt shot, nothing. I got 1 at the finish line (of course) and 1 only because we asked. So make sure to ask to have your picture taken a lot if you want pics. Or better yet have someone follow you/your group around to take pics if you want to remember the event.
Not so goody bag- The goody bag was a joke! It had a bottle of Vagisil, a Monster drink and 2 powder packets to mix in water. The stuff itself wasn't bad, it's just that all you got. I can get better samples walking around Costco.
To end on a good note, the race was awesome in that it was all women. That was a blast and everyone was friendly and helpful. Majority of the volunteers were nice too. And you do get a cool medal at the end :)

My daughter and I had so much fun! Muddy Princess is all about women empowerment and a great bonding experience. It wasn't too hard and wasn't too east, perfect for us :)
Can't wait for next year!

3.1 Miles of Unacceptable

Aug 01, 2019 by Jordyn McIntyre

I selected the Minneapolis 7/28/19 race, but my event was actually on that date listed as the INDIANAPOLIS race (the event was really in Rossville, IN 1.5 hrs away). But that race wasn't an option, for whatever reason.
Let me preface this review by stating, I had never done a mud run before this event. I didn't go into this comparing it to any other events. However, I do have a background in event planning and volunteer engagement, so that is where my viewpoint comes from.
This event was so incredibly poorly organized, that I was surprised to go back and find out that this company hosts these events all over the US. I'm going to break it down by categories:
- The Course...the course was at the Wildcat Creek MX. It was riddled with garbage and metal shards from what I assume was perhaps siding from a garage? There were substantial bases of saplings that had been ripped out to make the course (either the running or the MX) and there were several times where I slipped and caught myself from being impaled through my abdomen by one of these rooted "sticks" or a metal shard. The course was poorly directed with signs and there were not "obstacle marshalls" at many of them. There were a couple of stations there was supposed to be water at, but there was only one that was ready. (I ran in the first wave and we were toward the front). At one point, a man in a side-by-side instructed us to go a certain way and it was wrong. There were to be 18-20 obstacles, and maybe it's just be, but I didn't count an existing hill as an obstacle but they did! By my count, there were 17 MP obstacles.
- The Facilities...there were plenty of porto-johns for everyone and they appeared pretty well maintained. There wasn't a lot of waiting, which was great!
- There was a place with "food" but there weren't any other options. No food trucks or anything, but there were a ton of opportunities to grab an energy drink.
- The Rinse Facility...this was a joke. They used water from a nearby filthy retention pond and you basically stood in mud while you rinsed the mud. I would have assumed they would put down a rubber mat of some sort or even a strip of gravel. It was not adequately secured, because in the afternoon twenty men were caught not once, but TWICE watching the women shower. I know this as fact, because I was a volunteer and it came over my radio for myself and all of the women on the race course to hear. There didn't appear to be actual security of any type at the event, which surprised me for an event that size.
- Volunteer relations...wow. I usually love volunteering at events and did so at this event because my friend wanted to save money on the entry fee. NEVER AGAIN. First of all, you're not adequately cleaned (which as a female is a huge health concern). Then, they tell you that you are not allowed to use the restroom for your 5 hour shift, whilst simultaneously telling you to stay hydrated?? My station was in the full-sun and I was never checked on at any point. We were told they would tell us what the last group looks like and that never happened. When we radioed to ask, they said "we'll get back with you" and never did. We only knew the event was over when the breakdown crew came, at which point we rushed to the bathrooms only to find out they were already being taken down. So we held our bladders for 5 hours, an additional 20 mins to the cleanest facility. I don't believe we were acknowledged or told thank you as we left.
I wouldn't recommend this course to anyone, and I certainly wouldn't recommend the rinse facilities. I would save your entry fee for a different event, and I wouldn't recommend volunteering any time to save that entry fee. The juice isn't worth the squeeze on that one.

Ridiculous

Apr 30, 2019 by Holly

The “obstacles” were RIDICULOUSLY easy. It was almost insulting, as if they made it super easy because women can’t handle anything harder. There were only 12 obstacles; there should have been way more. The course wasn’t roped off, there were no BIBs/numbers, we had to pay for bag check, and we had to pay for pictures. The water stations had full bottles of water which was a waste, I couldn’t drink it all at either station. The sample bags had a melted chocolate protein sample and Vagisil wash.....which was just unnecessary. If this is your first ever 5k, it’s fine, but there are tons of better, more organized OCRs out there that do a better job.
