This is a good little local OCR for a good cause. They made the best use of the terrain and had some original obstacles. They also made use of their own rendition of obstacles from bigger races (think: Spartan, Conquer the Gauntlet). They also had penalties in case you couldn't do the obstacle. This seemed to make the competitiveness of the race more equitable.

It was hard to get info on the event from the It's a Child's Life website. But it was doable. They timed the entire race so if you ran an early heat and were a contender you had to wait for everyone else to finish.

Overall, if you're in the area, I'd recommend doing this race. It's fun, it's for a good cause, and depending on the obstacle, it's practice for the bigger races.

pros/cons

with the choice of 2 events this weekend I chose this event so here are the pros and cons.
Pros: great little local event with good obstacles evenly spread out. Great distance for those that want to do their 1st one and obstacles are doable for new folks. Staff were very friendly and welcoming to all.
Cons: between their minimal info on webpage, info on registration page and info on MUDRUNGUIDE none of it quite matched. prices advertised on mudrunguide were different when you actually went to register. awards for top 3 were advertised on mudrunguide as well as registration page but no actual awards as described were awarded. this is misleading to the consumer who is actually trying to decide on an event when there are choices. lots of work needs to be done on delivering correct info and keeping the customers interested and informed.
