It is no secret that the Canadian couple Lindsay Webster and Ryan Atkins have been a dominate force on the North American OCR scene this year. The couple was recently married this summer but marriage hasn't slowed down this duo. Over the weekend, both individually added another notch to their belts as they individually clinched the 2016 Spartan Race U.S. Championship Series besting many of the top obstacle racers in the world.

The two have been on an unstoppable journey this year. The industry looks now to the championship season to see if they can continue their winning seasons.

At the conclusion of the final race of the 2016 Spartan U.S. Championship Series, Lindsay Webster and Ryan Atkins, both from Canada, have been named winners of the series.

Designed to determine the best all-around Spartan obstacle racer, the Spartan U.S. Championship Series winner is based on cumulative points earned across the 5 U.S. Championship Series races. Televised on NBCSN, the series awarded over $100,000 in cash and prizes throughout the season and showcases all three Spartan Race core race types: the Sprint, the Super, and the Beast. Audiences can catch all the Spartan Race action when the series returns to NBCSN, Aug. 30 at 10 pm ET.

After a decisive first place finish at the Spartan Southeast Showdown in Asheville, NC, Lindsay Webster from Canada clinched the 2016 Spartan U.S. Championship Series. Lindsay Webster finished the Asheville race in first with a time of 1:55:51. Having already clinched the series, Webster did not participate at the final series race in Breckenridge.

In the final race in the Spartan series, “The Summit”, Ryan Atkins finished in 5th place, winning the U.S. Championship Series by one point. The Summit in Breckenridge was the only Beast distance race (12+ Miles, 30+ Obstacles) of the series, and is a strong indicator for who will be top contenders at the 2016 Spartan World Championship Beast in October.
