Obstacle course racing is everywhere as spring rolls around. As the Northern Hemisphere comes out of the freeze of winter athletes all around are getting out and getting muddy. This week we celebrate two athletes have got out on the course recently, one rather mudder and the other not so much.
Each week our social media guru, Bonnie Wilson, hand picks who athletes to highlight from around the globe. Our featured athletes this week took on races in the United States and the Netherlands.
Community Members of the Week
First is Rob Shimonski (@rshimonski) who tackled the Spartan at Citi Field. While the Spartan Stadium races don't offer any mud, they do offer a lot of stairs! Rob writes:
“Jumping through the week like… Citi Field Spartan Stadium Race was just a warm up to what’s to come – what’s your next Race? Want to thank @theoriginalwarriorpak for protecting my hands on just about every race I do. I’ve tried tons of gloves, but these are the real deal. Also @nuunhydration for keeping me fueled. Aroo!”
Our second community member of the week is Joanna Zukowska-Kasprzyk who raced at the recent Strong Viking in the Netherlands. Joanna writes:
“Last Sunday, I raced against the best. Finished 5th. I have a feeling I am cursed for this place, as it is my third time, haha ? As for my taste it was too warm, so these mud baths were pretty nice after all! Although it felt at the time like swimming in soup? that's what those @ocrseries boys prepare for us ? During the race I think: why am I doing this to myself? Haha, but once I am finished, I keep craving for more… Next race: @xletixcom in Bad Höningen! ? ? @d_spreen”
