Four countries medal in 100 m, 400 m, and 5 km distances
Manila, Philippines December 12, 2019: Records fell in the 100m and 400m obstacle course races at the 2019 South East Asia Games with Indonesia, Malaysia, Laos, and the Philippines taking home medals.
The host Philippine Team dominated the medal tally with six gold, three silver, and one bronze. Malaysia took home three silver and a bronze, Indonesia captured three bronze and Laos two Bronze.
Records were broken throughout the heats and finals in the 100 m, 400 m mixed relay and 400 m team assist. Rochelle Suarez (Philippines) set a new women’s 100 m world record of 46.70 seconds in and Kevin Pascua (Philippines) set a new men’s 100m world record of 29.92 seconds
In the 400 m Team Assist Monolito Divina, Kyle Antolin, Deanne Moncada and Kaizen Dela Serna of Team Philippines fought off hard-charging Malaysian Team in a world record time of 3 minutes 48.35 seconds. Nathaniel Sanchez, Jeffrey Reginio, Diana Buhler and Keilah Rodriguez also of the Philippines beat Malaysia to set the 400 m Team Relay world record of 1 minute 59.56 seconds.
Mr. Al Agra (PHL), World OCR Central Board member and president of OCR Asia-Pacific and the Pilipinas Obstacle Sports Federation (POSF) said “We couldn’t be happier with the OCR events in the 30th SEA Games. A sincere thanks to the Olympic Council of Asia, the South East Asia Games Federation, the SEA Games Organizing Committee, the international delegations, officials, staff and volunteers for their invaluable roles in the safe and successful events.”
The Games were held November 30 through December 12 in and around the Manila metropolitan area in the Philippines. 56 sports were contested making it the highest number of sports in the SEAG history. The OCR events were organized by POSF and OCR Asia-Pacific, under the regulation of World OCR, the Fédération Internationale de Sports d’Obstacles.
