Product Review – Barstarzz Beast on the Bars: Part I

By |January 4th, 2018|

As my OCR friend James Grbac said, the muscle up is the holy grail of moves. I’ve been going for it since last year. There are lots of YouTubes on how to do it. I’ve tried everything. My definition of success looks like this: starting from a dead hang, complete a full muscle up in one fluid motion without a kip. I want the hardest one. Then I will know I can do the easier ones. In fact, I can already do a six-foot wall or bar muscle up just by jumping a bit.

Episode Recap – Broken Skull Challenge Men’s Rematch

By |December 7th, 2017|

Second chances are sometimes second nature. Redemption is a dream open and desired by all. Tonight, the men got that opportunity to meet again for a shot at the Skullbuster and $25,000. What they didn’t get was a second chance at beating Hunter McIntyre. To some that may feel more like purgatory than the ultimate victory throne.

Two weeks ago Cassidy’s reign came to an end at the hands and feet of Corinna. Ms. Coffin has a history in OCR by showing up kind of unannounced and blowing everyone else out of the water. Before there was Rea Kolbl at WTM, there was Corinna Coffin. I don’t see either one of these ladies letting go of their crowns anytime soon. Tonight will be no exception.

Warrior Gym Grand Opening Review

By |November 27th, 2017|

Last weekend, I spent about six hours over two days interviewing, photographing, and attending the grand opening of the Warrior Gym in Mount Laurel, New Jersey.  It took that long because this place is huge.  As co-owners Brian Kane and Vito Lasprugato emphasized, Warrior Gym is a great big playground.

This posse of men as big as or bigger than Steve went at it for a chance at the Skullbuster.  Hunter ran it weighing in at around 200 pounds.  So is it possible for a guy bigger than that to beat the 6:01 mark?

Episode Recap – Broken Skull Challenge Season 5 Episode 8

It’s ladies day again and not everyone appreciates a trash-talking chick. My advice is to simply overlook it and everything else the producers throw at you. Instead, enjoy the athleticism and humanity that the athletes show. That is something we all have in common.
