Race Recap – Hardcore Mudd Run

By |November 3rd, 2017|

The Hardcore Mudd Run, just a few minutes from the main campus of Penn State, was our destination. Tussey Mountain does not look big from the road. But like a lot of Pennsylvania mountain terrain, it soon proved to be the main obstacle of the event.

Episode Recap – Broken Skull Challenge Season 5 Episode 6

By |November 1st, 2017|

As I’m halfway through a week working with the Marine Corps down at Camp LeJeune, NC, I thought to myself, “Man, I’d like to see some Marines on the Skullbuster.” Tonight, my wish came true. The Marines totally stormed the show. This is the first time the ladies faced Trench Warfare with the double [...]

Race Recap – Goliathon VIII

By |October 27th, 2017|

Goliathon is an obstacle course built especially for Indiana Jones.  Think the Last Crusade movie where our hero meets up with the ancient guardian of the Holy Grail.  “You must choose…wisely.”  That is the mantra of Goliathon.

How to Avoid an OCR Wardrobe Malfunction

By |October 27th, 2017|

When I started in OCR five years ago, I made a lot of rookie mistakes. OCR itself was a rookie sport. There wasn’t a lot of fine gear like we have today. Still, some of that gear is less than, shall we say, appropriate for the course. Here are some tips and suggestions for you to avoid an OCR wardrobe malfunction.

Episode Recap – Broken Skull Challenge Season 5 Episode 5

By |October 25th, 2017|

Last week, some very well-known coaches in OCR got into the BSRC men’s division debate. The focus was on who can beat Hunter and what would it take (besides beating a time of 6:01). The viewpoint of the coach was one we don’t see often. But I follow these guys closely and pick up any tidbit of info I can to improve my own game. At 55 years of age, I’m not out to pick off the Sheriff. But I am in it to stay in it for the long haul.

Race Recap – Spartan Stadium Sprint Series: Citizen’s Bank Park

By |October 21st, 2017|

Since my last Spartan Race in this series at Citifield last year, much has changed.  They made registration a lot easier by almost getting the whole thing down to one question and one screen.  “What’s your name?  Sign here.”  From their perspective, this was a positive indication of more good things to come yesterday at the Citizen's Bank Park Stadium Sprint.

Episode Recap – Broken Skull Challenge Season 5 Episode 4

By |October 19th, 2017|

This week, the spotlight switches to a new set of girls on Broken Skull Challenge. But who are they? Unlike Ms. Van Paris and crew, this latest group of eight is curiously silent. Does that mean they hate each other? Will there be blood on the course tonight? One thing is for sure.

Episode Recap – Broken Skull Challenge Season 5 Episode 3

By |October 11th, 2017|

The first challenge was Rip Off with a new twist.  Warriors had to rip off both bands then also ring a bell.  This was a lot of good fights.

Episode Recap – Broken Skull Challenge Season 5 Episode 2

By |October 6th, 2017|

As you know, I like to make predictions before I watch the episode.  After speaking with Brooke Van Paris early this morning, I find myself at a loss.  She described her cast as eight jacked, over six-feet tall women.  Indeed, an intimidating group.  But behind the scenes, these girls became fast friends.  Maybe a bit too friendly.

Barbers and Farmers and Spears Oh My!

By |October 3rd, 2017|

A few months ago my hay bale got infested with ants.  I had the bale in the trunk of my car along with all my other toys.  The ants had no trouble taking on the Wreck Bag, Sand Bell, log, 5-gallon bucket, and other obstacles.  I got tired of them mocking me as they navigated over, under, through, and around them and my 40-pound weight vest.
