Run For Your Lives has gone out of business. The Zombie Run has stepped in to still put on a few of the previously scheduled events to try and help out participants. If you are looking for an upcoming Zombie Run due to Run For Your Lives being cancelled, check out The Zombie Run

Protect your brain and run for your life. This is one race where your legs giving out are the least of your problems. Run For Your Lives is a first-of-its-kind event, one part 5K, one part obstacle course, one part escaping the clutches of zombies — and all parts awesome.

Runners will navigate a series of challenging obstacles throughout a 5K course in an attempt to reach the finish line — all while avoiding zombies. At the end of this adventure race, you get to celebrate survival (or zombie transformation) with live entertainment and music, local celebrities, vendors, food, and of course, beer!

Basic Survival

  • Before the race, you will be given a flag belt, just like the overly intimidating game of flag football. These flags represent your health.
  • The zombies want to take your flags and maybe eat your brains.
  • If you lose all your health flags, you die. And the zombies win.
  • Health bonuses will be hidden throughout the course. If you find one and carry it to the finish, it will save your life.

What You’re Up Against

  • Throughout the 5K obstacle race, there will be a series of man-made and natural obstacles for you to complete. Runners may choose NOT to complete an obstacle, BUT any runner who skips an obstacle will not be eligible for prizes.
  • There will be zombies. Their job is to chase you and eat you — but mainly go after your health, in the form of your flag belt. Avoid the zombies to keep your health flags.
  • Use speed, strategy and your intact brains to make it to the FINISH LINE “alive” with at least ONE FLAG INTACT (or a health bonus pack). If you finish with zero health flags, this means the zombies have successfully transformed you into the “undead”; your time will be recorded, but you will not be eligible for awards.

How You’ll Do It
There will be a start line, and a finish line, but what happens in between is up to you. There are multiple routes to reach the finish. Choose wisely, or your 5k might turn into a 10k.

Great time!!!

For a first time 5k this race was awesome. Race needed more obstacles but all in all it was fun. My wife and I will definitely be doing this run next year.

The zombies were fun to have around, but the obstacles were repetitive and easy. The venue had narrow paths so that after about 1/4 of a mile we all had to walk because there was no room to run. Once it widened it was better. The first 1/4 of a mile had zombies and then nothing for about another 1/4 of a mile. The obstacles were mainly mud and hurdles. Another problem was we had to wait for 5-10 minutes at a couple of the obstacles. Lots of people just went around the electric shock house, but if you crawled you didn't get shocked. We wish that there had been more photographers on the course to capture the moments, and we only saw officials at the water stations at the mile markers. The EMTs were also at the mile markers. No officials were at the obstacles, except for the electric shock house and the monkey bars. Luckily, I didn't see anyone get hurt.
Showers were standard fair at mud runs, but I liked the tank/hose that was used at the Warrior Dash better. The changing tent was what is expected at a mud run. Overall, my husband and I feel that this race was not worth the money or time spent traveling to the event.

Most fun we've had at a mud run. Simple obstacles were appreciated. This race is not about the obstacles... they are simply zombie free 'safe zones' - a much-needed place to take a breather. The zombies were great. Excellent make-up. Good attitudes. They push runners hard between obstacles. We were constantly out-of-breath and cornered. We ran harder at this 5K than any other. Loved it.

The event has a great theme and concept but lame obstacles and the problem they are having this year is an increase for price for 2013 races. If you want to charge premium rates for this, they need to add more challenging obstacles. It is more of a one and done race and really no reason to make it an annual stop on my list of races.

Definitely a good time. Did a shift as a zombie in the morning that beat the hell outta me and ran about 2PM. Decent obstacles, more about the sprints from the zombies than the 5K distance. If you're looking for a 5K run, look elsewhere. If you're looking for a good time with zombies, obstacles, and mad sprints, go for it.

Great Race, BAD Camping

Dec 20, 2012 by iopele

This was a lot of fun, the race was perfect for my first 5k and the obstacles were challenging but not impossible, as stated on the website. The camping was a huge waste of money--the "camping area" was tiny and half of it was horse poop covered in hay--and they don't give you a different medal if you live, which really sucked. Also, maybe bring your own zip tie for the timing chip because the ones they provided snapped WAY too easy--I saw dozens of chips along the route. And don't sign up as a spectator or you'll be disappointed, there was hardly anything to do but listen to a crappy DJ. Still, the race/obstacle course part was a blast and we'll do that again! We just won't stick around afterward.

A good time

I had a great time running this race. The zombies were made up extremely well and put on a great performance, chasing the runners. They had slow, "walker" zombies as well as "chaser" zombies. I would have liked to see a few more obstacles, but I believe this event is more targeted to towards zombie enthusiast or casual runners and is not meant to be a super tough, elite athletic event. However, you can enter the competitive portion if you wish. Definitely a fun event and I look forward to doing it again

Most disorganized mess ever. Lost bags, long lines , ran out of water, boring obstacles that are not well taken care of. Huge waste of money.
