Savage Race is the most badass mud and obstacle race event yet. Our unique courses feature big, rugged obstacles spread out over 4 – 6 treacherous miles. This is one tough race, and we guarantee that it will completely kick your ass. We warn you that this race is not for everyone, and it's definitely not your average family fun run or ‘mud race'. If you're afraid of extreme obstacles, fire, mud, and bruises, DO NOT sign up for Savage Race. But if you're tough, you need to prove it. Are you a Savage? Prove it at Savage Race.
We lovingly call our participants Savages because we believe you have to find your inner barbarian to power through our intense 4-6 mile races. Some of our most intense obstacles have include the Shriveled Richard ice bath, the incredibly steep Sawtooth Bars, a leap over rows of fire and of course crawling through thick mud under barbed wire. Savage Race prides itself on having the biggest obstacles and featuring the most per mile; a true Savage Challenge. We also scout for the gnarliest terrain available in your area to offer participants the added challenge of treacherous terrain.
At Savage Race we believe that we deserve to play just as hard as we work, and our Savages certainly deserve it after completing one of our races. That's why at the end of each event we reward participants with frosty beer, delicious barbeque and awesome music at what we like to call the “Outrageous Savage After Party.”
Our mission at Savage Race is to provide endurance enthusiasts with something even bigger than the race itself. We want participants to push themselves until they think they can run no further, climb no higher and go no faster. Being a Savage means pushing yourself to the ultimate limit, and the high you will feel after completing one of our events is something that you will never forget.

First but not the last
First mud run ever and it was awesome, obstacles were broken up pretty perfectly on my opinion. The race terrain was tricky and offered technical challenges to any seasoned trail runner even when just running, dodging branches and planning foot placement on the trails was a great test of agility. The length was perfect for me and they really had a great location, I mean a paintball course is awesome alone to run around... We were running past old planes through these castle like buildings, streams, weeds, old metal containers. Props to skirmish paintball field. We got there early and parked right next to the course. The people were great the spectators were encouraging no matter who they came to cheer on. The "official" event directors were pleasant and eager to find out if people were having a good time. It was COLD and one of the directors came up to me after I was finished and asked how I liked it, if it was challenging enough, and then told me to be sure to get warm clothes on. Felt like he actually cared. Overall an amazing experience I'd recommend to anyone, I'll definitely do it again!
Amazeballs
I've ran quite a few mud runs, from 3 Tough Mudder (only tough because it's 12+ miles) and a Spartan Race (where throwing a stick at a hay bale is an obstacle) down to your local military mud run. I must say Savage Race has taken over as the top race for me. The obstacles were bigger than any i've seen, and the ones that are similar to others offer a new twist. I love that Colossus is like a "finishing obstacle" and it gives you something to try and conquer.
As for the event itself, I do not have the same complaints as the review below. I haven't been to a race yet that allows 5,000 cars to park next to the start line, but I have been to a race where I had to park over an hour's shuttle-ride to the race. Parking at this venue was about 300 yards away, on site, and well ran. There was also a fun band and nice food in the party area, and I didn't find myself waiting in lines at registration or at concessions.
When it comes down to it, Savage Race was tops in my book. Well run, challenging course, the best obstacles, and a nice location.
I have done a few mud runs and I did the Savage Race with my company. Overall the event went well, but was not as polished as some other races. To be fair I am comparing this race to the Tough Mudder I ran a few months ago (by far the best executed). The parking was adequate, however we had to hike about 1/4-1/2 mile to the gate. That's fine for the runners, but not for my wife pushing the stroller with our son. Check in was fine, but the timing devices were meant to go on the ankle but did not fit. They purchased wrist bands for the timing devices, not ankle size. Prior to start time, we set up our tent and pounded a few pre-game beers. At the start point we had to go through a security point, where a "rent-a-cop" was acting as a bouncer. Could have been much more polished. The race itself was ok. The terrain was very hilly and provided a great challenge, however I found the obstacles to be fairly well built, however many of the obstacles were very generic. The balance beam was just that, a balance beam. The low crawl was just that, a low crawl. The German wall and slide was fun, but we had to wait 10-15 minutes for several obstacles. Lastly, at the end there was no fanfare or celebration. They had some teenager handing out the medal and shirt. No water, powerbars, bananas, or beer at the finish line. Again, the Tough Mudder finish made you feel like you conquered the world. The savage race, I felt like I just finished a 5th grade field day.
Great event
I have done around 20 mud run/obstacle races and Savage is one of my personal favorites. I really enjoyed this race, the half pipe to slide obstacle and the monkey bars in particular. It would have been nice to have a few more obstacles during the longer straight aways but I think this was more of an issue with the property. Definitely a great event with fun, challenging obstacles and a great atmosphere overall
